You're not telling me what you were thinking at the time, you're rationalizing why what you did makes sense using knowledge you didn't have at the time. It shouldn't be this hard to tell me why you didn't try.

    There are people on Waco.

I don't know if you're one of them, but to those people, whatever I said isn't obvious to them.

Miner called me obvious town. (well he didn't use these words)

    That's a first!

    You better.

If it wasn't for my supreme negotiation tactics you could prep your neck for a noose while riding a runaway wagon out of town.

I have no clue what to do with you.

Which is sort of my problem with a handful of people in this game, so I guess it's not just you.

But like, you in particular are doing a lot of sort of scummy things, acknowledging it, and then slanking away? And that's not even shade, exactly, I just don't know what the fuck to do with you.

I feel like there's a lot of engagement on a very superficial level. Like, we have people kinda shrugging and tossing out activity reads (that's what I assume you mean wrt tom, which is strange since he's a top 5 poster), or tonal reads based on how posts read, or so on. But I don't know how to distinguish town players that just aren't engaging fully from scum players purposefully trying to make poor arguments.

And then there are inactives on top of that.

I think where we are is that I'm never lynching Jan, Newcomb, Waco, or the two inactives that I expect either a replacement or actual activity from.

Fluff would be my preference of a "shrug, let's just settle on ___" lynch, but I'd prefer to avoid that because it doesn't give us much on flip.

    That leaves us with:
    Jarizok
    Koalas
    Miner
    Rubicon
    Tom
    Vira

So let's talk about that group super quickly and identify lynch candidates.

Miner isn't really doing it for me, but he's not particularly scummy either. I feel confident that now that he's not doing the gimmick I can figure out where his head is somewhat better given time, and most of my townreads don't want to lynch Miner today iirc, so I'm taking him off the list.

The Rubicon Jarizok interactions that Newcomb pointed out early are weird, and I haven't felt like Rubicon was particularly towny. However, besides my one thing at the beginning, it's sorta the Miner thing again - he's not being particularly scummy either. And we can at least talk about the game in a way that makes sense to me, I can look at his mindset some, etc. He's off the list.

Vira should probably come off the list too? This is the trickiest one for me because I think that superficial thinking that I complain about above as being something I don't handle well in trying to properly alignment sort is present with her, but. Idk. Partially gut, partially the fact that if there really are 2-3 scum in this group then she's been pretty much spewed clear. I don't care for her iso, but I don't want to lynch her today.

    So that leaves:
    Jarizok
    Koalas
    Tom

Koalas is my preference, clearly, for reasons I've stated before, and tom is probably the person I have the least desire to bury right now of the bottom 3 - I guess we'll see what Newcomb has for us on tom. Jarizok is between them because I feel like he's doing a lot of the same things that are pinging me about Koalas, but I can see those things coming from town!Jarizok more easily than town!Koalas. I think.

I mean, I guess it just wasn't a priority? Being owner paints a target on your back in exchange for knowing that your plan will be carried out. That's worth it if you think you being owner is the only way to see a good plan carried out. If you feel like someone else will very likely carry out your preferred plan, it's sorta shrug. I've never been at a point in the game where I felt like the only good option for marketplace owner was me. If I had, I'd have put my name forward.

This is sort of a pointless tangent unless you think it was my cunning scum strat to make posts that pointed to me logically electing myself but then ducking my election, though.

Jan I assume that means you're willing to join me on Koalas if Newcomb doesn't wow us with his Tom case?

If you'd just said this immediately there would have been no problem at all. But the way you handled my question is suspicious.

It obviously wouldn't have been a cunning strat but just an oversight. It happens to the best of us.

Objectively speaking I fail to see the logic behind not wanting to lynch the two inactive people, although Cobalt more so than fonti.

Not sure I can add anything to this exchange really. I see Jan's point, insofar as Jarizok not reaching for Miner reasons and going about his business feels town, but I agree with Typhon that, like, what even is his business?

10,000 foot view, every time someone's like, "Jarizok what are you even doing, how is this trying to solve the game, at all? This is hella awkward and fake sounding." He's just like, "Oh that's just how I sound. I get people talking. Talking is good."

After a certain threshold of critical mass that stops being an acceptable answer, ya dig?

It's up to you guys to decide how acceptable it is. If you guys mislynch me again this game for my play style I'll have to seriously reconsider obviously.

I feel like at this point, Rubicon just dipping his toes in the thread and listlessly poking people (starting back up more than halfway through, at 282), is a scum thing.

I got the same feeling when I answered his question about that Vira thing, and he went, "that is reasonable", and I had to prod him to take it further, and he just went, "I believe you believed it." It feels like pulling teeth and I don't see the drive to solve here.

Sounds like lynching you is a win-win!

I mean, it becomes obvious you guys can't read me, but if it's just frustrating that I'm playing the game wrong, I'll try something else.

    Actually
    Jarizok

Don't want to repeat past mistakes. By "acceptable," I wasn't talking about objectively how you should play your game. You should do whatever you want, don't take this as me telling you to do something different. I'm not about that.

I'm talking about acceptable for my standard of believing you. At a certain point, actions speak louder than words when it comes to reads.

Did you catch up yet? Does my tom read look anything like yours, if less well worded?

    ---------- Post automerged at 20:18 ---------- Previous post was at 20:16 ----------

I appreciate it, but at the same time, if people start dreading games I'm in I should really put in an effort to make it fun for everyone, not just me.

Jarizok They're two halves of the same answer, man.

I didn't come into the game wanting it, because the most important thing about the owner is that they are the two things that I outlined in my first post:
    1. consensus town
    2. able to follow a good mechanical plan

I didn't come looking for the position in my first post, because we had 96 hours to choose and I was fairly indifferent - we needed to see who those things best fit. At the time of my fonti vote, it was her, and so on. Later (from the first page, actually), I was a bad candidate (not consensus town) and there were always better ones. Not just better ones, but good ones. That was fine, because I didn't care about winning the position, which could be intuited from the fact that I never sought it, so long as it ended up with someone good.

I don't really understand how this leads anywhere, but there are my thoughts to do with what you will.

As far as I can tell, your tom read boils down to the fact that he's staying out of the way here and he did that last game as mafia.

Which is, like. Kind of my problem with you.

Because that's not a read I can do anything with when it comes to figuring out your alignment.

A read that I can sink my teeth into would talk about tom's mindset, like, what you think he's thinking behind the words in his posts, and why you think it's more likely to come from one alignment over the other.

I'm not caught up yet, I'm almost to post 300.

Alright, I’m back. Eight hours left, I think?

    Vote: Jari.

I want to see what he flips as. I'm not comfortable lynching Font or Cobalt when they could be replaced during the night.
