@Waco he was there as much as he deserved to be there.

I can delve into him but there's not a whole lot AI there.

That is not the reasoning at all .. more a mental mindset thing of yours.

We talked about improving parts of our play and I said that I really need to have more conviction when following my own reads and lynches, because that was basically what lost me the market game.

You were curious to hear the reasons to why I play that way because you thought the reasons were different to yours and were surprised when they were similar.

I mean that part of your mindset was not 100% new to me, but the difference between you and me is that I am somewhat spontaneous which is why people don't read me that way a lot of times.

That is why there are certain plays that I will make, but I don't think you are likely to do as mafia.

I can go into more details if you want, but it is somewhat private stuff and I don't need to talk about it in thread.

Responding to both of these at once - don't think your comparison of the two slots is apt at all, especially since Miner is talking about IRL issues (e.g. saying he'll be back tomorrow) and is probably not caught up yet on the thread. Owner has been catching up and responding to things as she reads the thread, and my expectation when someone catches up on a thread is they will point out something interesting / develop reads etc.

    Of Kai’s twenty-three posts, 52% (12) are fluff, 39% (9) are game-related, and 9% (2) are pictures. Less pictures than I thought, but it’s not a hopeful ratio.

I agree with a lot of Kai's points when he posts actual opinions, like #536, and #509 when he says forcing roles to claim is lame. But otherwise he hasn’t really done much.

I don't know how to read into the active lurking. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and if he is really busy then him actually checking back sometimes is more positive.

Like .. he is busy but still takes the time to check in on his phone .. it might be useless stuff, but everyone knows that just draws attention.

I just want to wait and see what he does whenever he is done with his stuff.
I see the points people made. I could explain them with outside of game reasons he gave, but I am sure we will see what happens when he gets back.

If he is scum then he just won't get far and people won't let loose. Not a high priority for me personally to sort through right now.

I will check Jaris Iso within the next 24 hours, maybe even within the next 1-2 hours. Need some food first.

I will say that if I was scum with cobalt and he was a no show so far, then yes I would be annoyed .. but then again there are 3 other scum in that world and if just one of fonti, newcomb or regfan was scum with me then there would be nothing to drag me down. :p

The truth is that I was in a good mood early in auction market mafia. The game got slightly annoying the longer it lasted for reasons stated.

This game I am going in with a slightly bitter mood that is unrelated to the game itself. Might make some of my comments a bit edgier.

If I am going too far and people are actually offended, just let me know.
Trying to keep it spicey while still being somewhat lighthearted with the fun.

Newcomb - Can understand that stance on Rubicon, I'm really having trouble understanding his Miner read overall here. Glad to hear you agree re; Vira/Atum, I'll run through my Delphine town read shortly since I think I can explain it better than I have so far but what's your actual read on Jari and what do you disagree with re; my read on him?

Koalas - Fair, I'll buy the "Flailing" read on Miner for now and we'll come back to this read in ~24 hours if you like. Can you explain to me how Fluffs attitude re; his approach leads you to have a town lean on him? I'm not following that part. Let me know where you land on those other players when you're finished catching up and going over the content.

Vira - I touched on my Waco town read inside Post #523 but it's a very weak town read that I don't feel very strongly about, my town read on Fonti is similarly weak but is based around liking her interaction with Fable throughout the last ~12 hours.

Rubicon - I know that Miner said he'll be back in the next day or two and will catch up then but my gripe with him is that his response towards Fable has a lot of scum motivation behind it and shows he's actually more caught up with this thread than what you're attributing.

The odds of him 'randomly' checking the thread when someone asked a question that gives him a chance to attack Fonti with and him instantly reading it and responding is very low if he's not semi up to date. And if he is semi up to date then the extent of posts vs reads of his is a rather huge scum indication. I feel like this is a rather strong point and you shrugging it off and being as lenient to him as you are with it doesn't sit well.

    Regfan :

Can you explain to me scum!Miners motivation for giving somewhat wrong meta infos on fontisian?

I am trying to run it through my head and like.

He talks about the very last game regarding fonti, and if he is lying on purpose then he would know that people would call him out on it, right?

So either those thoughts were actually real and it is not alignment indicative (outside of the fact that he reacted rather quick) or they are fabricated which would make him scum.

Fabricating thoughts that half of the game would call him out within seconds makes only sense as scum for one reason.
    Distancing.

Either from exactly Fonti by trying to frame her in a way that people would call him out for.

Or from someone that called him out and pushed him for it.

I cannot see any scum motivation for it outside of that, but maybe I am missing something and you want to enlighten me.

    Oh by the way ..

I feel good about the general thread contributions outside of cobalt.

Which is pretty good .. hope you people can keep it up.

And well maybe Cobalt will remember that he signed up for the game 2 days ago. He is getting old and all that. (and if not we have a few replacements to burn through!)

It's on miner more then anyone else at this point but sure. We'll revisit tomorrow.

Alright. So fluff died in final 3 last game. He felt I made a bad call (and to be fair I did) but as I/Newcomb said it was a justified call. I'd make it again anytime.

Now we're here in WH. Town!fluff is going to fluff because he doesn't see the issue with it. It's on us for not seeing his towniness. Scum!fluff.. it doesn't matter what the reasons are, being lynched is losing. I'd expect a modicum of effort to change things up if only to avoid a f3 esque repeat.

It's a little meta and a lot of gut but that's where I'm leaning.

I dislike Owners question towards Jan inside Post #326; the assumption that Jan scum read the post because he has a better strategy is one that I have a lot of trouble following ever being a real thought. I'm used to Owner having a lot of fluffy non-game related posts particularly in the earlier game (It's partially how I misread her in the Obs in Mountainous) but the sheer lack of content inside of them is troublesome, while her Post #335 somewhat explains the "More fun, less serious" type mindset I don't see any real solving attempts whatsoever with her only real reads shared inside the game being in Post #396 and coming across as very shallow. Got a weakish scum read on her overall.

Jan - I'm fine with you getting to your Jari read/thoughts later today/tomorrow. I think Miners comment re; Fonti's meta is something he believes to some extent, he's probably aware that he's slightly exaggerating it though but that's not even what I'm finding scummy about it. It's him turning up, being caught up enough to read that post and respond towards it when it's something that clearly favours him to answer given the position he's in but his inability to state actual reads/thoughts on the game. It all feels very opportunistic/situationally scummy.

Koalas - I think you're ignoring the fact that Fluff won SVM as scum, and won it very comfortably and if you look at his scum QT inside the game he's actually a very competent scum player so I think he'd back himself to play a late game situation differently as mafia so that last game wouldn't be repeated.

Looks like Newcomb left for dinner and may be slightly behind schedule catching up which suits me too since I probably won't be ready for the conversation for at least anther hour.

Lets do this, lets talk about Vaimes; I've put this off long enough already. I'd actually typed up my thoughts on him 2-3 times over the past ~48 hours starting them with lines like "Pretty confident this is Town!Vaimes" and deleted it because I just didn't feel confident that I was assessing him properly and he's someone I'd feel really stupid about if I misread and wanted to hold back the read until I was more sure.

I liked his response towards Miners post in Post #79 and the follow on thought process inside Post #87 runs pretty smoothly. That said the "Entertaining the feeling of you two distancing" in Post #156 really feels out of place given what had happened at the time and didn't feel like a genuine tin-foil type read. I liked both reads and thoughts of his inside Post #164 and liked the begginning of trying to use his Miner read to convince himself to feel better about Newcomb inside Post #166 since I think it's something that makes plenty of sense for him to do as town given the last game and the progression of that inside Post #168 and Post #173 feels fairly legitimate.

Similarly I liked his response towards Rubicon calling him meta-lock town inside Post #182 feels fairly comfortable as does a lot of his early posting which matches what I know of his town meta and posts like his "Curious if we all have the same reasons for town reading Vira" inside Post #204 is the type of thought that very much comes from town.

I know he's been quite busy with work etc. recently but my qualm comes from the lack of scumhunting elsewhere, it feels like he's spent most of his 'in-thread time' around the Miner/Fonti/Newcomb thing and has ignored a lot of other avenues of conversation and I've not really seen where I've reached the point where I'm willing to bet the game on him being town which I feel I should be given his meta and his postcount so far. I still think he's probably town here though.

There, I was curious about what Jan was thinking in terms of early strategies as he was suspicious Regfan for his first post that included early game strategies. In regards to you, I was asking Jan for his opinion of you as he openly joked about killing you.

Jan, I've watched consistently play on DM and tried to develop a way to read him. I lately tend to read Jan based off how good and effortlessly his jokes are, as that tends to be more town Jan. Scum!Jan can pull off a joke or two but never as much as his town play. Recently, in playing the DM forum game, I read him town based off his jokes, and I was wrong. So from that experience, I'm hesitant to trust that meta on him. But I feel he has done an overwhelming amount of jokes so that's why it's a "might". Jan is also aware of this read I have on him.
Delphine, in our game on PerC, she did a gimmick day 1 as town. I think the main time I've seen her scum game was when we were scum together and i wasn't really paying attention to her play in that game. So if she doesn't gimmick as mafia, then meta wise, she "might" be town here. But then, I don't know if she'd use that to possibly pocket me. As her doing back to back gimmicks on day 1, felt like "hey maybe she's hinting to me that she's town". But yeah, that's why I was asking if she has done any gimmicks as scum. Because the potential meta right now depends on me taking a leap of faith and believing that she doesn't do gimmicks as mafia.

Tabletop Day was fun, but my allergies sucked.

    Okay, so I said I'd try and explain the Delphine read a bit clearer, here it is;

I find her analysis and read on me inside Post #297 very accurate with the thought process very easy to follow, the progression of that into Post #310 and Post #508 with the depth of the read even ending up comparing timestamps of posts that I was doing when phone posting feels like a very deep genuine read, it's very easy to get inside her head and see how she ended up thinking about and ending up with the read. The quoted section below in particular the bolded part is what I think is very hard and unlikely to be faked. I also think her scepticism of Jans town read on her inside Post #641 is another decently strong town tell. I'd be pretty baffled if she's not town here.

    Welcome Fluff, what'd you win?

This matches my fonti read pretty much 100%.

Man that is a super strong read based on a bunch of points that don't do much for me.

I read this as more of a comment about fonti's style than any real defense of Miner.

226 "attempting to genuinely assess the game", I had the opposite reaction. Felt more to me like general pushback against reads.

Him bringing up "Priest should check the GD claim" I don't really see why you think witches would bring up suboptimal plans?

I will grant that him not considering witches claiming a role they've dropped is a decent look. Not entirely sure you can hang "scumchat would have always covered that by now" as something that anyone can really say with any degree of confidence.

So, yeah. My own read on Jarizok is pretty muddy. I see things that I think are potentially active lurking, I see things that I think are potentially fighting against townreads, I see some tonal things I like and the semi-derpclear mentioned above. All in all he's chilling with Rubicon as people I don't have much interest in lynching toDay, but not really feeling are strongly town at all.

So definitely not seeing the "bet the game on him being town" thing.

Hm, another case of "should have read ahead a bit more," but yeah I essentially agree with all this.
KaiDASH you have Jari as a potential witch; aside from batting aside Reg's reasons for townreading him and your manly instincts, got anything to substantiate this?

Tail end of this Fable/Jari exchange.

Think it's moderate evidence for them being not w/w. Fable's incredulity at the associative reads thing rings fairly true.

    Hm. Okay, why?

    Why is that?

Am I only allowed to have one playstyle?

What if the intention was to gain information via giving reads?
