I think if jar was a witch I'd lock clear everyone he has red/dark red and it'd look decent for koalas as well.

I'd take another look at waco and reg if jarizok was a witch.

Slight scumread on Koalas this morning - think his scum game is marked by more edge / anger than his town game and that's the vibe I get from his longer catch-up post.

Miner's defense here is meh. Dislike the focus on whether people can read him or not. Also,

    This is false.

Owner's Market - started with the 2nd person POV gimmick, discussing optimal bid strategy, agreeing with fontisian's reads, poking Typhon for inconsistencies, discussing your read on Vira/me/Jarizok, disagreeing with something about a dumb tell, calling Koalas deep wolf, and so on.

Mountainous Mafia: discussing Owner in some detail with Quiddity by your third post, then posting reads on Jan/me/fluff, agreeing with font about Owner, posting a read wall in post 11, and so on.

So yeah, that's a pretty dramatic mischaracterization of your own meta.

If you get my hopes up and let me down, I will never trust you again.

This is our first game together, I'm having trouble thinking of a context where you would be sitting around with unspecified people discussing the strengths and weaknesses of my scum game except for inside witch coven. Explain?

I assume you're talking about my Auction approach. I didn't really continue with that as it really didn't pan out last game. Gun to my head.. I'd say Vira, Vaimes and Jarizok then go from there. Side note, given you're asking about it, do you think its an approach with merit?

They were very weak reads and I don't like posting what's essentially my rough work. So I didn't initially include it. But that does nothing for showing my mindset and that's something I'm reminding myself to work on.

    See above.

I thought it was notable based on Auction but from the sounds of it this is just RL poking through. Jan can go from weird null to null that needs more thought.

I haven't looked over his QT so that's something to do later but you're kind of missing my point. Fluff's playstyle is well suited for endgaming and the endgame of Auction was not bad play on fluff's part it was the previous 3/4 Days that were the issue. So does scum!fluff come into this so unashamedly continuing his standard Day 1? I really don't think so. There's changes he could make without going full effort that would satisfy a lot of people.

The fact that he hasn't.. feels alright to me.

Not really? Delphine's posted a lot of meta reasons for Reg being town. I know you've agreed with some of them (and I can't talk to Reg's meta) but engaged as town/low energy as scum feels like a cop out. Especially given Auction and the feedback in it. Either alignment would be excited to engage/help improve player's games (or give an abject lesson in what they're doing wrong).

Quoted bit is referring to post 599. 100% read accuracy on my Day 1's of all things is bull.

You're doing that prod dodge thing again. :colbert:

Is there anything specific that has caught your eye as really scummy that nobody else is focusing on?

    So yeah, no.

I spent the vast majority of early Owner's market just messing around in 2nd person.

Mountainous, sure, but that was the game where I was attempting to be widely townread and was successful for it.

If you look at games that occurred before it, there's literally no game where I didn't spend the majority of early game/RVS just messing around.

What made you change your early game playstyle for mountainous and why did you not continue it after that game?

Yes, you were messing around, but you were messing around while posting content and reads.

What's your reasoning for all this?

---------- Post automerged at 11:37 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:34 AM ----------

Like IIRC Miner, Tom made the point that your gimmick made you more transparent because you were putting your thought process into words - this was scum spew but he was sort of right. The gimmick was just a fun way of presenting content.

That's your most recent town meta, so I'm not thrilled with you dismissing it out of hand.

I'm about 150 posts back and away from my notes rn, so I'm working on it but I'll get that readwall to you and talk about your readwall when I see it or you link it. That said I think there's scum in {Regfan/Jarizok/fontisian/Delphine} and I'm pretty dissatisfied that I probably won't get a lynch there today but it's not like I'm actually helping in that regard so it's whatever.

Off-topic, but I want to go on record saying that I hate playing town, especially now that everyone thinks they've got me figured out as scum and I'd like to entreat the next mod to let me loose on these sad villagers so I can go H.A.M.

I think this is a good point. I still do think that he would feel too anxious/image-conscious as scum to go full mentor rather than flat out brushing off giving any kind of initial read-based hottake on the game.

Meta aside, I think it's pretty town indicative that Reg argued early on that people should townread Rubicon because of Rubicon's conviction on Rubicon's Vaimes read considering Regfan's own progression on Vaimes in which he himself is not quite sold and embarrassed about it. I think it makes it incredibly unlikely that he's faking uncertainty to get townread.

    Not bull at all.

Prior to playing with you in the FantasyStrike Lovers game + in Mini Mafia 6 (I think you don't really remember them bc you subbed into one and it got abandoned shortly after/subbed out of the other, but both times I correctly townread you from your first couple of posts), I semi-seriously followed all of your DLP games since Lexi's Choose Your Side. I correctly read you in all of them (though you were scum in most of them so it was hard to tell initially if I just found your playstyle scummy and was just getting lucky.) We have not crossed paths in over a year, but I've read at least part of all of your games since then and have had a correct hottake on your alignment on whatever the first game day that I end up reading is. It's been a point of pride for me over the past couple of years, so I'm glad to finally be in a game with you again and see if I can get in your head.

I particularly look forward to hearing more on your thoughts on Jari then when you get to them, then.

I think it can have merit, particularly in a large game, but it probably depends on what you're anchoring the list around.

Regfan .. after rereading Jaris Iso I have to agree with you, I think. Not a lock town but a town.

Most of your points didn't do it for me but the last one was pretty much town!Jari and I doubt he would have the presence of mind to fake is as witch.
    Talking about this combo :

Should have read that part earlier, but tbh when reading up on large amounts of this thread I am not willing to check out every post that you linked by opening it in a new tab. Just too much clutter.
Working from memory as much as I can normally anyway.

You are right. As of right now I don't think any of those 4 is mafia.

Not sure on Regfan, but his defense of Jari makes a lot more sense now that I have actually reread the Jari parts ..

Similar to that Fonti is either town or townsiding.

The other 2 are just town.

I'm not getting what you're talking about here. What do you think he'd be doing as scum?

Does showing uncertainty (faked or not) not play into the anxious/image conscious point you mentioned above?

The bull was due to our lack of games together. As I'd put Lovers on the top of my list in terms of least mafia-like games of Mafia I've ever played and MM6 (?) was whatever.

Call it Obs meta or whatever but I really don't like this trend in your reads.

It's coming. Working my way through owner first.

At the moment people I think can be read easily or I can reach a decent spot with through interactions. Needs refinement obviously.

I'm likely 90% sure Miner would have taken the "fonti is mafia for pushing me" track as town. Consider how he usually starts Day 1 by saying he'll sheep me until d3, at which point if I have not killed mafia, he'll lynch me. Miner is basically the only serious adherent to that plan, which makes his choice to defend himself instead of push back here strange and scummy.

I'll note Vira's sass to owner as another reason to townread her.

I liked Jari's response to Miner's vote. Felt unusually reasonable and gamesolvey.

Just quoting this to as a reminder to the future, paranoid village that Atum is town.
