It's Harry/Lily/Narcissa that was just getting to the Fleur/Harry stuff when it was abandoned. It's a very well written story, a fic which has plot with smut. Has cool original ideas. Finally a realistic Harry/Lily and Harry/Narcissa story thats not contrived. 4/5 shame the author abandoned it though because it was heading towards 5/5.

That claim was so unbelievable that it made me curious enough to read it. By CH4 it's obvious that both the relationships are unrealistic and contrived. The writing was technically sound, but this story better described as a porn fic with a little plot, rather than 'a fic which has plot with smut'.

 

Actually if you read further the plot grows further and more. The smut scenes are like 25% of this fic rest 75% is plot. Whats exactly contrived and unrealistic? Personally 20 year old Lily getting attracted to 14 year old Harry who is a better version of James for her is much more plausible and I wouldn't call it contrived. Nor is Narcissa who has been in a loveless marriage for years and gets attracted to an handsome teen who Lucius sends her after to sleep with.

This pile of shit is the very definition of contrived. It only came about to be because the author wanted to write about Harry fucking Lily/Narcissa/Fleur/whoever he has or had planned next.

Did Lily give birth when she was 6?

Anyway, here's a 1/5. If I could rate this in the negative, I would.

Just because it's technically sound writing does not mean it's actually good writing.

This is porn, with very little plot to excuse it.

 

This story, for me, exemplifies the greatness of fanfiction. The key word is fiction. You know that when you start reading you should be checking reality at the door. Hell, how contrived is a wizarding hero rising from an abused child to fight evil? Fiction and fanfiction is our escape. I thoroughly enjoyed Dragon Lily and was very disappointed to see it abandoned. The writer developed a conscious and felt guilty writing porn, or at least that is what I remembered from an author's note.

 

Please tell me you didn't really just pull out the old infamous "Fantasy is always unrealistic, so things don't need reasons to happen in a fantasy story" argument.

 

I find it funny that a rewrite of this fic is in the Library but this is being bashed.

I absolutely hate statements like that. Just because a story is fiction doesn't mean it can't have realistic characterizations or development. Fiction is not just lazy writing.

The sequence of events that led to Harry defeating Voldemort are contrived, but they were written in a way that didn't strain my immersion in the story. Lily walking in on her son touching himself and then suddenly being struck by desire is shitty writing. There is a difference.

It's a shame the author didn't become self-aware early enough to avoid having written this story.

Yep this fic has copied almost every scene from Dragon Lily yet it was praised and in the Library and this being bashed.

 

I suppose once you removed the smut people liked it better.

 

As far as defending the fic, this is a poor attempt. Try addressing any of the myriad of problems people have pointed out regarding, y'know, the fic itself.

 

The writing is sound but clearly the author just wanted to write about rough sex with milfs. I'm gonna assume the semblance of plot was the author's slowly growing guilt about writing incesty porn and this was his(?) way to feel better about it.

You have read to much FF Narcissa was never in a loveless marriage or atleast we have no canon evidence IIRC JK even said in an interwiew that one redeeming characteristic of the Malfoys was their love for eachother.

I believe this fic was rewritten twice and both times the sex was mundane and the plot was lack luster.

 

Well, if you like a Harry that has a triangle going on with two mature women, one of them being his mom and the other his school rival's pureblood bitch mother, without anyone of them knowing he has something going on with another person. Add in some plot surrounding GoF, that gets deeper (sorta) the more you get into it, and a potentially powerfull Harry, then this is definetly for you.

Take it for what it is, and you can enjoy it, just don't take it to seriously. 2.5/5 for me.

 

There is a thing called an age gap and something called cradle robbing. As a person ages the age gap becomes a little irrelevant, but the idea that a grown woman is attracted to a 14 year while she has a husband and other more suited sexual partners available is more than a little contrived.
Incest and unrealistic smut is nothing new to ff.net, but to say that it's not contrived means you must have a very different dictionary than most.
The justification that it's fiction and has nothing to do with reality is also not palatable when the author doesn't set up different rules of social discourse. Either a totally different reality with its own mores and social norms is defined or the reader goes with the assumption of the one they belong to.
It's not to say that people don't like reading fics like this one or won't write them anymore, but to say that they are not contrived is more than a little disingenuous.

 

It's hardly contrived. There are stories in the news all the time about female teachers cheating on their husbands with teenaged students. Incest also isn't as rare as many would think.

 

The ff.net link is dead. Has the fic been removed or is it just a faulty link? If the file has been removed, does anyone have alternate link? I know it is abandoned but I still want to read the existing story.
