People have been begging for a good HP game for years. Honestly, don't understand why they haven't attempted an mmo yet
I mentioned it once on this forum, but it's just amazing that The Witcher, a fantasy book from Poland, managed to get an AAA adaptation that is among the best games ever, but likes of HP and GoT are still waiting.
If it is Rocksteady, I sincerely hope they stick with what they know best, single player open world. I guess you'd know... I think Harry Potter is in the perfect time to have another crack at a game. The original movies have been done for some time, we've had the time for some perspective. Yet at the same time, we've got the resurgence of interest with the new prequels. I reckon Game of Thrones is a bit tougher to compare to the Witcher. Neither the Books nor TV show are complete. Plus a lot of the story has the political aspects to it. Entire character arcs are based around such manoeuvring. But I'd love a Shadow of Mordor style GoT game. Such a good sandbox...
Well, I'm one of the world's biggest Harry Potter fans and a huge gamer to boot, and I've never purchased a single Harry Potter game. If they could create one anything similar to Skyrim or Witcher -- hell, even a game like Breath of the Wild or The Witness (ie. navigating Hogwarts and solving puzzles to unravel mysteries along the way) would spark my interest. As it is, they always looked too boring to invest money in. Anyway, biggest things I want to see at E3 are God of War and Red Dead Redemption but I'm intrigued to see Nintendo's Switch stream too, hoping for Mario, Smash Brothers and *fingers crossed* I'd love to see some Donkey Kong!
I'm a huge fan of HP. But I heavily favour the earlier, lighter and more focused on the world books. Something like Zelda, an adventure game about exploring and solving issues would be my favorite. Open and wide, but with strong Characters.
HP in VR where you have to learn to cast your spells with a wand? Proper movements etc. Dreams do happen.
The Witcher books are also full of political intrigue that play a central role in the plot/story and which heavily influence Geralt (despite his attempts to stay out of it)...
The first couple handhelds and cinematic games were exactly that: collect stuff, run around Hogwarts, solve various puzzles.
The reason why there haven't been any non-book/movie-based HP games is because Rowling wouldn't allow it to happen. Why? You'd have to ask her that. Personally, I just don't think she wants to let anyone take a crack at the setting she's created, whether from fear that they will ruin it/not get it or outshine her or something entirely else, I don't know. I remember when people thought Pottermore was going to be a HP MMO and I remember all the salt and tears when it was actually revealed for what it was. Fixed that for you. The only somewhat decent ASOIAF game was made by Cyanide. Other than that, you have only the CK2 mod to play with and nothing else is worth the bother.
Cyanide made a Game of Throne prequel game for the PS3, 360 and PC. I remember it getting shitted on in reviews for the PS3. Here's a let's play. Edit: My bad Odran... that wasn't even a ninja'd
Well WB own the rights to HP games and they own Rocksteady. They've also finished with Batman. If there was ever a time, this is it. I'd love it to be true, buuuut... They're probably gonna make a Wonder Woman game.
A Wonder Woman game would just be a new skin on the Arkham games. I can see the combat being exactly the same, which would invite criticism. I reckon Harry Potter would be the smarter, more creative move. But otherwise there isn't much speculation to Rocksteady making a HP game, which is usually pretty damning. Damn
Annnnd it begins. Good god I could not care less about FIFA. Oh hey look... it's Burnout... again. Weird pure co-op thing is weird. Mysterious scifi Anthem thing is mysterious. Could not care less about NBA. Battlefront looks great, not gunna lie. I know suspect DICE will fuck it up somehow though. Annnnnd it's over. Fairly pathetic excuse for a conference, EA.
Sports games in general. They barely change anything and sell them for $60/year every year and yet people never get fatigued by it.
