My favorite part of the story is the cultural references. It's always refreshing to read an anime fic where elements of Japanese philosophy, lifestyle and culture are brought into play; not the tired, infuriating 'sweatdrops' or stupid weeaboo cliches, but the real shit, the different types of sake, the mechanics of Go, and so on and so forth. Bringing them in with elegance is not a common skill, and not one to be ignored.
