Every pronunciation of Ginny I've ever heard has been with a soft G.

This, which is why I'm so confused by Wheezybaby's comment about the movies

See, this is why International Phonetic Alphabet is useful.

    Her name is pronounced [ˈʤɪ.nij].

No, that's bad and you should feel bad.

Of course, it's only useful if the other people you're conversing with also know it. Even when I do know the correct IPA (I know most of the vowels but not the consonants) I tend to not use it, as it's pretty specialised knowledge. Also writing the symbols on the computer is a bitch.

Ginny is pronounced like Genie, without the long ee sound in the middle. Better?

And on another note... It took me two years to realize that it was Madame Maxime

    Not Madame Maxine

I thought Dobby was a sort of giant bird. I have no idea why.

I thought Grindelwald was Grindwald. Didn't realise until I had to search it to write my own fic. -facepalm- Also, Minerva as Min-nev-ra. Didn't realise it was the same as the Roman goddess...

    Edit: Hermione as Herm-ion

I didn't realize, until about a year ago, that Fay Dunbar was canon.

Strictly speaking she isn't. She's named in the video games, not the books. That said, JKR always maintained in interviews that there were 2 other Gryffindor girls in Harry's year to fill out the girls to number 5, so it's not like it's really anti-canon either.

These crossovers...where do I find them? And I presume there's some smut in it? >_>

OT: I had absolutely no misconceptions because I am that Awesome. Every time someone corrects me, I still have no misconception because my mind went back in time and made it so.

I spent 10 years of my freaking life pronouncing the Cruciatus Curse as the Crutacious Curse. It wasn't until I read a fanfic where the writer mangled it enough that I thought to myself "there's no way this idiot got it THIS wrong". The fact that I had it wrong, made it look twice as wrong as it was supposed to. Made me feel really stupid, especially since I've seen all the movies, and read tons of fanfics. It should of been so obvious, especially wtih Crucio being the incantation, which would of made zero sense had I been right.

On that note, I thought it was the Cruciatatus curse for a long time. :facepalm

I thought Diffindo was the incantation for healing until I reread DH yesterday and realised that it was for the Cutting Curse... Epic fail...

This one is going to be really dumb, but I had always read Prefect, as Perfect.

I had the same problem. Perfects as in the perfect students. And I still think it's a much cooler title that I plan to use in one of my stories. :)
