Mmm, well, if we look at some ninja, like Sasori – using ninja as puppets - there's clearly a different standard of 'honor' among ninja.

For a time, I liked this idea. But it's kind of boring to me now. I mean is it really so unrealistic that there isn't a ninja who's forsaken his ninja-hood and become a samurai? Or that there isn't a samurai who hasn't dabbled in the ninja arts?

This is a very good idea, and it had never occurred to me, but it makes a lot of sense.

As for the most recent chapter, well, Kishi managed to surprise me, amazingly. I assumed that Danzo's arm that was in a sling was useless, as I also assumed that most of his body was. Guess not. Guess the old war hawk can still kick some serious ass. Especially against 17 assassins. And he wasn't even touched. Now that's awesome. Sai no longer being trusted by ROOT is also a nice plot-twist, and it proves that people aren't nearly as inept as they appear to be in the Naruto-verse.

As stated before, hawt!Mizukage is made of win, as is 60's!Tsuchikage. Another thing that's been stated before, the Stormtrooper Samurai is also awesome.

As for my predictions for the next chapter, well, I'm assuming that something huge is going to happen at the meeting. Possibly even something like Danzo not being recognized by the other Kages, which would be epic and lead to Danzo most likely attempting to speed up his agenda of ruling the entire Ninja world...unless that's fanon bleeding into this. Naruto, Kakashi and Yamato will no doubt be found out by the Kumo ninja, if for no other reason than Naruto sucks at staying quiet for long periods of time.

 

I'll be amazed and happy if there's some kind of misdirection about the Hokage post. It was originally joked that Naruto would become Hokage by declaration, but it actually seems to be looking to be more and more likely, not less.

- All the Kages are traveling with just two helpers
- Naruto brought two ninjas with him
- Naruto's bandaged up very similarly to Danzo
- Danzo seems to be getting delayed by assassins

It may not happen, but it's a great thinking topic.

 

Why does Kishimoto despise his title character so much?

Crying in front of the Raikage? Why? He can be a man in front of the guy who murdered all of his friends and allies while being turned into a human pincushion, but he goes to pieces for no reason here?

I would think that he would have made a bit more of an impression if he'd composed himself with a bit of self respect.

Ugh. Naruto's character is moving backwards. It's killing me.

 

Is he really? I think it's just snow/sweat/something. Then again, I may be in denial.

On a side note, is Sai going to expose Naruto's feeling for Sakura? Way to appease NaruSaku fans, Kishi! What happened to the heavy NaruHina overtone several chapters back?

 

Yeah, Naruto really has an uphill battle if he wants to change the attitudes of ninjas as drastically as whats coming out in the manga. I mean you attack someone's brother and you can expect retaliation, that's what families mostly do, let alone ninja.

Raikage is definitely someone who'd respond to strength more so than waterworks, but I doubt Naruto would have even known that going in half-cocked as he did.

 

What I don't get is why Konoha didn't pwn Kumo after their ridiculous shit with the Hyuugas.

 

Just when you thought Naruto was growing up, he expects something as stupid as begging and crying to work. I'm even more surprised Kakashi and Yamato went along with it, surely they should have know it wouldn't work- they at least coached him a bit...

God, when Sasuke attacks Danzo if Naruto's around he's probably going to cry and talk about friendship and hatred.

 

I'm thinking because of the damage dealt by the Kyuubi.

Actually, yeah. If you'd look up the historical samurai, those were clans with heritage stretching back hundreds of years. When an actual Ninja was raised to the samurai status (I think it was Hattori Hanzo), the samurai threw a hissy fit and rebelled if I remember correctly.

Samurai could become ninja if they chose too, but their honor and bushido wouldn't take it. They'd have to be ronin or masterless to even consider it. Ninja as well couldn't become Samurai, since they don't have the heritage.

If you check the Fanfiction Forum's Naruto section, a poster going by Halcyon7 is writing a Samurai! Naruto fic pretty convincingly, using history told about the samurai and their characteristics and such.

I agree with you, and here's my opinion:

The teams that do get a jounin instructor are the lucky ones, getting a personal instructor one on one. Those who wash out of getting a jounin instructor can apply again next year, or they can get recruited by another section of Konoha's shinobi organisation. The Konoha Hospital might pick up people with an interest in healing and excellent chakra control like Sakura, while the Konoha Military Police would pick up the ones with good chakra reserves and control, like Sasuke. Some might even get picked to be an apprentice by a veteran shinobi, like Naruto.

 

Bet if Naruto was a girl, nobody would mind. XD

I guess Kyuubi's regenerative powers are no where to be seen. He got a little beat up and his face is still bruised up from small punches.

 

Made Naruto into a little bitch after the high of Pain. What is the purpose of Danzo hiding a Sharingan for so long or was it just implanted? Surely with so much power he would have been suggested as a Hokage candidate earlier.

 

I thought Naruto still had them because Kishi was still fucking with us on whether or not Naruto would be mistaken for the Hokage.
