I was thinking of picking this up sometime soon. I was wondering if anyone had used it, and if so, does it seem to work decently?

I have one, got it awhile ago with the thick PS2.

It works perfectly (though the switch method can be annoying), but I burnt out my laser using bad DVDs. Make sure you get high quality Verbatim discs.

    Go for it.

If you get one, and you have an older, thick PS2, I suggest looking into a case/SM combo. You save like... 5... 10 on it and its hella easy.

Google Swap Magic Case Combo. D:

Explain this further to me. Swap Magic? So, it makes foreign discs compatible, or summat?

You get two discs, one for DVD games and one for CD-R Games.

You insert one of the two discs in and wait until it loads before swapping with either the hook or if you've hardmodded just opening the case and switching the swap magic disc with your backup/imported game.

It's worth the money if you still play your PS2.

I have one and only used it once, to put a little file on my Memory Card that let me launch a .elf (PS2 executable) when a specific PS1 game is launched.

This way I can play games directly from the HDD, I don't have to worry about the DVD's quality and the loadings are shorter.

And your playstation last longer too, as the laser is only used to detect the PS1 game. Mine recently reached her 8th birthday
