    Maybe after 20+ years of walking around with Ash he finally got tired of being asked, and faking that he couldn't speak to Ash.

    I was also fully expecting some kind of expletive as a dub over of Pikachu's voice, because The Internet.

    The movie is a reboot of the anime, it literally happens after the spearow attack at the beginning of their journey.
