Hm, there was some shitpost I was going to make earlier but I didn't because tom broke my automerge again but now I can't remember what it was. Sad times.

Checking in briefly. Who woulda thunk that work would be slower on a holiday?

After crunching the numbers I've determined that I have no real idea how to play this setup so I'll probably just try to lynch wolves and hope I don't fuck up too hard.

I want to say I'm lightly townreading Gemma for extremely gut reasons. Everyone else gets to be hard null. Excited for tom to start posting content because I have a theory on his town vs. scum ranges that I'm eager to try out.

    Vote: Cobalt

for dragging me into this mess.

I think it's better to get how we use lump out there, since scum almost certainly already know. Any objections?

I mean, my kneejerk take is something along the lines of "give lump to not-a-witch and then treat this person as locktown for as long as possible". Hoping that isn't too far off.

    Hi Ampharos, welcome to DLP!

Do you mind my asking who here you've played with before? Just tom and Cobalt?

I think I MIGHT have played with Fonti before but I certainly don't remember anything about it, so effectively just those two, yes.

Whoever winds up with Lump is either going to be acting as a major player setting the topic of discussion or as a town asset voting alongside the will of the people, depending on how naturally vocal the player in question is. In either case, doubting the intentions of the double voter dilutes the usefulness of the vote advantage in the first place.

Now, if we get down to LYLO and the lump carrier's still around, that's a different matter. But I'd say in all other situations it's counterproductive to shade Lump's friend without a stroooong case behind it.

Also, if you're already picking a player who you assume is probably town, you might as well hard commit. In for a penny etc etc.
    --- Post automerged ---
It should be noted that I'm arguably below average when it comes to figuring out optimal mechanical plays.

That said, I prefer to solve games by establishing core villagers first and working from there, so having a jumping-off point for that seems like a +ev play.

Holy shit its like memes edition mafia!

You guys don't how relieved I am to finally be town. Like I think I would've even cried a little if I rolled scum again.
    --- Post automerged ---
    Also happy new yearrrrrr!!!

    Lump: citrus

Please lump me. As I am the priest it would be doubly great, plus I wouldn't be obligated to check myself to make sure that robotic panda thing is in good hands

@Umami also you need an avatar fyi!

Lump is a pretty easy mechanic. Just lump me and you don't have to worry about it for the rest of d1

I get the impression you've played some degree of mafia before, from your posts?

The thing with lump is, whoever gets it is very likely to get killed. Putting it on someone who’s /not/ conf town and also not scum means the witches now have to choose between killing strong townies, a double voter or role hunting.

Since I get lynched every game and am also not scum this game, I’m the perfect lump.

I'm somewhat familiar with the game, yes. Whether or not I'm any good is another matter.

Was hoping to hear from fonti again before I went to bed. Oh well. Out for now.

(Feel free to pretend I'm Australian if it helps you grasp my general sleep cycle.)

    Lynch Gemma

Fake read on me, fake nonchalance.

I’m kinda awake but not really.

I’m assuming witches, if necessary, were coached about Lump strategy 100% of the time.

I want to say that makes it a bad look for Grape.
    --- Post automerged ---
I actually like Ampharos a bit.
    --- Post automerged ---
And I want to say her (?) not mentioning the Thing re: Lump is town, because a witch would definitely be aware of it by now and probably wouldn’t leave it out of their “this is why the Lump is useful!” analysis.
    --- Post automerged ---
    That’s a little confusing.

“the Thing about Lump” is town

    ^ reads a bit clearer.
    --- Post automerged ---
Okay I was really tired but now thinking about this game woke me up.
    --- Post automerged ---
    Aaaaaactually hm.

Why did you and are you continuing to Lump Gemma?

    Alright I'm here.

    What's going on?
    --- Post automerged ---
I'll assume that vote on Ampharos was RVS because it was totally disgusting otherwise.

What's your take on Vaimes though?
    --- Post automerged ---
Ok I somewhat understand the Lump idea... I think.

I have a question though, why are people already discussing who should get the Lump when we stand at <100 posts and have virtually no way to be confident that we're giving it to a townie? From an outsiders perspective who hasn't dealt with a similar mechanic before this course of action looks wrong.

Here I'm assuming that Lump could potentially be given to witches as well.
This is a good post, I especially agree with the bolded line. Building a reliable village core before anything else will help us reduce the chance of giving Lump to a witch and also increase our chances of accurately lynching witches. Two birds with one stone.

Maybe wait for Umami to post before we reveal the Secret? Dunno how useful it’ll be.
