I hope this post finds you well. I'm reaching out to see if anyone else has come across an abandoned fanfic that left them absolutely craving for more. In my case, there was this incredible isekai/transmigration fic where Azkaban, dementors and relics like the Deathly Hallows were created by uncaring/maybe evil gods. The story was filled with suspense and left me on the edge of my seat, desperately wanting to know how it would end. Unfortunately, the author never finished it, and it's been haunting me ever since.

If you have any abandoned fics that left you wanting to know what happens next, please share them! Let's see if we can find some comfort in knowing we're not alone in our unfinished fic woes.

Looking forward to hearing from you all!

For all the trash that it was (and it really was, in many ways), no fic has ever left me sadder for being incomplete than Knowledge is Power by Fettucini.

Hyper-competent but still incredibly fallible Harry, interesting Fleur characterization, super slow-burn relationship, interesting OCs, hell the fic wasn't even technically romance.

Its list of faults is enormous and it falls into ALL the tropes (even if most weren't established tropes when it was written), but if I could wave a wand and have one fic completed, it'd be that one.

FullPensieve's "Harry Potter and the Years of Rebellion" had rather sophisticated world building and characterization, it would have been nice to see where it would have gone.

    Draco664's "Master Potter."

The Santi's "Harry Potter and the Boy Who Lived."

I have to +1 @Republic's answer. There's something charming about the fic despite the fact that it's tropey trash. If I had to pick another I keep coming back to it would be @Cxjenious's The Black Prince (I'm holding out hope that last year's update in the WbA means it might make a comeback). Not only is it the best HP crossover it's a top tier ASOIAF fanfic and still probably has the best Robert and Cersei I've read. Gives them depth and a complicated relationship that I enjoyed reading.

Knowledge is Power, Boy Who Lived by the Santi, Life in Konoha's Anbu, The Last Avatar by The Sorting Cat was getting interesting too.

A million other fics to go along with them.

    Something something bring back Detego.

In terms of HP fanfic I haven't read in ages, but I think if A Long Journey Home dropped another chapter I'd reread 150k words in an hour or so.

I would still read more of Power of Time by Rosswrock and Acceptance of Fate by Arya.

Not much chance of either though.

Lot of great fics already mentioned, but some that haven’t been that I’d love to see finally finished:
Wand and Shield, the Marvel/HP crossover. I know a DLPer wrote it but can’t remember what their handle on here was.
On the Way to Greatness by Mira Mirth was really hitting on all cylinders and was so close to the finish line.
What you leave behind and the lesser sadness by @Newcomb are amazing

The Shadow of Angmar by Steelbadger, perhaps the only good Lord of the Rings fic I ever read, and it's a crossover on top of that. What Steelbadger added to Tolkien's world is superb and fits very well tonally and with the rest of the world. He dared set the first part of the story in the mostly unknown East of Middle Earth and he did it fantastically, I can only applaud him for that. I have a special place in my heart for his portrayal of the Avari of the Wild Woods, they felt particularly alien and mysterious in a fittingly elvish manner.

    Game of Champions by Lamora.

The best Pokemon fix without any coming even close. The darker tone have it an edge of realism that no one has been able to imitate yet.

I am not sure it is abandoned, but the Endless Pantheons series by Todeswind is my favorite Dresden Files/Stargate crossover. The way they managed to mix both worlds seemlessly is an art form.

Taure wrote a fic called "The Reaper Reborn" that to this day remains the only good fic in the entire Red Rising fandom.

Although there is zero chance these will be continued, Out of the Night, The Song of the Trees and To Define Treachery (this one is technically not abandoned) would be my choices.

On the category of the hopefully-to-be-continued fics, Red by Drizzy.

Outside of HP, Hurricane Suite hands down.

Victoria Potter. If only I had a dollar for each fanfic abandoned in name of rewrite.

I have no hope but still waiting for wand and shield, saltbreaker, project patriot, awaken sleeper, project m, sequel of toppling heroes, agent of cauldron.

I'm not sure I can quite agree with your last sentence but yeah I hate that I loved this so much. Like bad junk food or something. I kind of want to re-read it because I vaguely remember some parts that would come off as hilariously tone-deaf in the year of our lord 2025.

My vote for "if I could snap my fingers and finish something incomplete" would be Dragon From Ash.

    What a question. By fandom:

HP: Forging the Sword; Harry Potter and the Boy Who Lived, both need no introduction. Also, What You Leave Behind was wildly interesting.

Naruto: Eilyfe's Team Seven Trilogy; Written In Reverse, Love Sick, and The Howling Wind all by Menace; Houses of the Holy by Howdy.

ASoIaF: The Sword of the North by DaThornintheNorth, A Song For Dragons by DoubleHex.

Star Wars: Fortune's Gate by geo3.

Crossovers: The Black Prince and The Shadow of Angmar.

@Toujourss Pur my shit ain't dead, I'm just busy. It's plotted out lol.

Great news that made my day; both of your Naruto fics were just getting to some meaty and interesting parts. Very excited whenever you do find time to get to it.

My vote for "snap my fingers and X is complete" is either Criminal Limit (sequel to Renegade Cause) or Circular Reasoning. I can't choose between them.

It would have been Prince of the Dark Kingdom, but that one is actually complete, the author just hasn't posted the remaining chapters.
