I've been wondering, what secret could Lily hold to have JK preserve it for the Seventh Book and possibly be spared by Voldemort? Some sort of fobidden knowledge?

 

Or, ya know, JK needed a reason for Lily's death to be a sacrifice instead of just choosing to die first, and hasn't yet made up a plausible enough reason for Voldemort to offer to let her live after killing James and Harry.

And after reading the gaping shithole that was HBP, I somehow doubt that the reason she comes up with will be either plausible or probable.

 

No Voldemort was Harry's real father, that's why he can't kill him. You can almost see the scene from atop Hogwart's highest tower.

Voldemort: No Harry. I am your father.
Harry: No that's not possible, that's... Wait hold on I can't do this bullshit (closes final book and never picks it up again.)

That will be explained in the 7th book, seeing how JKR had announced that she'll reveal some big thing about Lily's background.

My best bet is that she's from one of the bastard branches of Marvolo family, making her Tommy-boy's cousin.

Wait...something comes! Maybe Lily found out about the Horcruxes and hid a few of them? That would mean that Voldemort would just be stuck as a spirit if he got AK'd, since he himself wouldn't know where to look to find the pieces that can ressurect him. I'm making wild guesses here

LOL, Lily being a marvolo... one of the biggest cliche out there. if that was the truth, i would expect Voldemort to kill her he first chance he gets, given that he doesn't want to be "second heir".

 

Yeah, I agree that i cant see her being like some far removed relative or whatever. While were throwing out crazy plots.....what about if Lily was actually a time traveller and knew Riddle while he was in the orphanage. If Lily had actually cared for Riddle, that might be why he found it in his heart to let her live....
But then again, the chance that Im right is like rediculously slim

 

I really believe that she is somehow related to Riddle. Oh well. My expectations for book 7 are becoming lower and lower...

 

If Lily was related to Riddle, then so is Petunia, and with all that blood magic rubbish, wouldnt the plothole wards of Privet drive be useless?

Lily either:

1: Put a bind on Harrys' magic when he was a baby (One of the worst cliches of them all)

or

2: Lily left her knowledge in Harry and it comes forward when he is 17.(Another horrible way of getting Harry into a position to maim and kill Voldemort (and it is a possibility, I mean Voldemort split his soul, so Lily can print her knowledge onto Harry))

I think the secret is she really was as biased as Petunia. Voldemort was going to let her live, because she wanted to be a Death Eater before the prophecy was made.

Either that or James was still a bullying moron, and they had applied for a divorce.

I know that i will probably get a really big slagging and bad rep for this but how can it be cliche if JK writes it, i mean yes it may be shite and annoying etc but nothing she writes can be cliche as she is the orignal writer. No?
