    Title: Chess
    Author: opalish
    Rating: T
    Genre: Drama
    DLP Category: General Fics
Pairing: None (Apparently R/Hr, But it doesn't show.)

    Status: Oneshot
Summary: Ron and McGonagall play a game of chess. Ron loses his temper, Gryffindor loses points, and McGonagall loses a few comforting illusions. But maybe something's gained in the end... Slight RHr.

Interesting character study oneshot. Great portrayal of Ron, and points out a lot of problems with canon adults. Been in my favorites list for a while, and I think it belongs in the library. Solid writing, and I didn't notice any grammar problems.

    4.5/5

Surprisingly good, Ron's characterization was perfect, and his arguments were completly valid.

I remember Opalish getting into the library earlier, in the Humour section. I read this one, and I rate it 4/5.

    Ugh.

    Subtle.

Good characterization of Ron, but there's not really much substance. Also, the author doesn't understand the difference between hyphens and em dashes.

It's a pretty decent little character study. Not amazing, but it gets the job done.

^This, pretty much; I also rated 3/5. Not a whole lot of substance, though it's a competent portrayal of how Ron might have appeared six months before HBP's release, when we were delivered a steaming heap of Won-Won shallowness.

I rarely like anything Weasley-centric but this one deserves a 3.5/5

Doesn't really interest me. I read it, and skipped some of it. Just didn't appeal to me. I'm not rating it.

There may not be a lot of substance here, but the characterisation of Ron makes up for it. For a story to show him in a light that makes him even somewhat likeable... well, it's definitely a nice change of pace. Sure, there are problems with punctuation and such, but it's easily overlooked. I'm gonna rate it a 4/5, which is probably a little higher than it deserves, simply based on the way Ron was written.

Not a whole lot to add that hasn't been said. The writing is pretty good, the points made valid, the characterization quite reasonable. Just not much to it, which is fine for the purpose of the piece.

    4/5.
