    Welcome to the 2026 Short Competition #2 (Part 1?)

    Topic(s): Summary of a story that follows the prompt: picking a chapter from any Harry Potter book, and rewriting it (point of divergence)

    Word count: Under 1250 characters (AO3 Summary Length)    ​

    Deadline: Saturday, May 2nd at 11:59pm (23:59) PST​

    This is going to be a short writing exercise that is designed to help us write better summaries for our stories. When you send your summaries to @Lindsey mention what divergence point along with the summary of your 'story' (it does not need to be an actual story being written). After it is posted, we can discuss how to improve the various summaries.

    Voting Rules
    We will not have official voting like normal competitions. Instead we will have a discussion on how to improve the scenes. If you wish, you can pick your favorite entry.
