I've been trying to find some HP/Lovecraftian sort of work in general tone or as an actual crossover, I love the feel of the setting. I'm thinking Miskatonic University would fit well into HP some way as well.

I've read Gentleman Usher of the Scarlet Rod, but it's the only one I've found.

There are a few out there, but for the most part, they're terrible. Aside from GUOTSR there's a new one in work by author named 'eldritch' that looks promising.

Only ones I can think of right now.

There is The burning fairy. I think it was here in Recycle Bin.

Not something great, but still a nice read that is somewhat true to main themes in original Lovecraft fiction (i.e. cosmic horror and uncertainty).

    Oh, Luna & Hermione centric.

The problem I'm finding in looking for anything married into the Cthulhu Mythos is that it generally isn't mentioned in a summery or description. No one cites one particular book, and often Lovecraft's name isn't mentioned. You just have to read it and pick up on the tone or note some of the obscure locations or entities.

The feeling of how insignificant the characters really are, the growing horror as you delve deeper into the unknown or research. These kinds of things I think would mix well with HP, mixed with Magical Research or something Voldmort could be looking into and using...I'm honestly surprised I haven't seen more of it.

Anyway, that linked story 'The burning fairy' really had that feel down, even if it wasn't the best of writing.

I'm not. It takes a talented author to truly pull off a crossover, and it takes a special kind of author to truly convey the darkness and evil in such a way to due Lovecraft justice. Trying to find an author capable of both and willing to write such a piece of fanfiction is not easy.

Gentleman Usher of the Scarlet Rod was an absolutely amazing piece of work. I doubt we will ever see another Lovecraft crossover that will be quite as epic. Ruskbyte could most likely do an awesome job with a story like this considering some of his other works.

I've been sorely tempted to write a brief one-shot effort crossing Lovecraft with Potter - like 30,000 words. I toyed with the idea of Harry's scar making him sensitive to Cthulhu's influence from under the sea and this leading him to delve deeper into the madness of the Old Ones.

It is epic on a whole other scale, though, and would be somewhat intense. Even at his earliest, Lovecraft is horrifying.

Fucking do it Joe. I would love to see something like that.

Either that, or get back to WOT/OHAH. :p

Who wants a one-shot? Can't do Lovecraft justice in a one shot...

I think writing a full length fic based on the writings of Lovecraft would take an author with a flair for the dramatic and a taste for epic tales. Perhaps, even someone who has been known to write stories based on works by other horror authors like King.

If there was only such an epic author in the fanfiction community known for actually finishing stories he starts....There was this one guy who could have probably done it justice, but I just can't remember his name...James, Justin, Joseph, Jon, Jebediah, Joe...Nah, none of those guys sound very epic.

Well actually Jebediah does sound pretty epic. Sounds like the type of man to rain down fire and brimstone on your heathen ass. But I don't see how that is relevant.
