I kept off recommending this book for a while but now we are at book 7 and by GOD is this fantastic. At first I thought it was a Gamer type fic similar to Solo Leveling but the game mechanics are insane.

Finally it's not about what happens in the dungeon but the politics outside of it, really entertaining book.

Fun fact, on my left arm I have tattoos of my favorite books: Name of the Wind, Stormlight, HP, Lotr, Dresden Files. This series is going to be my next tattoo

I started reading this when it was in... Book one or two on Royal Road, four or so years back.

I got midway through book five or six, when he's at a big party, clicked for the next chapter... And it'd been deleted. I'd left it for three months, and the author had since stubbed the book to publish on Amazon. I don't begrudge him that, get that bread and all, but it took me long enough to keep reading the story that the book had been yanked.

I remember a lot of silliness. Some of it good, some of it bad, some of it felt very much like it was added just to make it random. In a vacuum, that'd work, but it just turned into part of the melange of multiversal TV that Royal Road LitRPGs become if they're not kept tight.

All that said, I did get through the first few books, so it's not trash. Make of that what you will, given my recommendation history.

I'll start by saying I don't like LitRPGs or Royal Road sci-fi content.

I read through the first two books of this. In the first book, things are relatively fresh and come at a fast enough pace that I was kept entertained. That was not true in the second book, by the midpoint I was bored and only kept going because I thought that maybe things would turn around near the end of the book. They don't. The book ends with a big explosion that comes out of nowhere and I'm pretty sure is from the author going "I'm bored of writing about this part, let's just move things along."

I'm trying to split things up into "things I enjoyed" and "things I did not enjoy" in my head and most elements are going into that second category...

Would not recommend this to others.
