So I have been reading a lot of fiction around this genre, and couldn't find anything was amazing like 'cest la vie'. Any recommendations of good alternate dimension fics?

Just had to look up what the angst genre actually entails. My misconception stems from angst literally meaning fear in german. You are right, there is probably very little left once you remove "angst".

 

The Darkness Within is a good series, although I'm not sure it exactly qualifies. Are you looking for AU purely within the Harry Potter fandom, or do crossovers apply as well?
