...or does ff.net not tell you when you've been invited to become the staff of a c2? I was idly checking through my profile and accidently clicked on "c2 staff". You can imagine my shock when I found a list of c2 managers who have sent me invitations. Of course I sent them apologies for the "silent treatment" but I feel a bit miffed.

Has this happened to anyone else? Or is it just me? If it isn't just me I might send an email to the nazis (not that they'd do anything about it).

Wow, that's pretty cool MS. Order of Stories is one I consistently check out fics in, and the other sounds promising.

It's actually a bit annoying when you get 10 email alerts a day ;)

*Ahem* Though officially I advise everyone to subscribe.

lmao, kinky wench. The effects of the IRC are creeping into the forums.

I don't think there's any alert system for invitations to "Staff". I've just been lazy and never "Accept" nor "Reject" them. They'll stay options until the C2 Manager revokes the invitation (as far as I know).

I'm guessing ff.net assumes anyone invited to Staff will have been e-mailed/discussed separately as you wouldn't usually simply ask someone you don't know to do it.

I'm not as popular as MS IX though. I've only got five standing invitations listed at the moment. Seems kind of odd to staff others when I have my own, and they'd probably simply overlap excessively.

    Here's the ones I got:
    [ Accept . Reject] 1. C2: Harry In Training [15925]
    [ Accept . Reject] 2. C2: Lord Harry James Potter Presents... [25796]
    [ Accept . Reject] 3. C2: Order of Stories [10077]
    [ Accept . Reject] 4. C2: Phoenix Rising [5724]
    [ Accept . Reject] 5. C2: The Lightning Bolt [2061]

You get some of the same, MS?

I've got no standing invitations anymore, took me best part of a minute to accept/reject. I accepted these two:

    [ remove ] 1. C2: Order of Stories [10077] : View My C2 Stories
    [ remove ] 2. C2: The Slytherins Archive [26823] : View My C2 Stories

And rejected two slash-sounding C2s (HarryDraco and a marauder c2 that was basically all Sirius/Remus). So I'm not as popular as nonjon of course :) Stop being so modest nonjon!

The Order of Stories...I feel like I can't do anything. Everytime I try to add a fic I get a message saying it's already been added. I've given up now. The other one's okay, it's still small.

And I wasn't emailed by the owners separately though I'm not going to pretend it affected me. All I'm wondering is why the hell slash c2s add my story and seek me out to staff when I don't write/read slash! *looks over his shoulder for a hungry slash predator*

Err... well that particular C2 community has over 1000 fics in the archive already and 17 other people adding fics to it. I'd say most of the good fics are already on it.

I've never been e-mailed either, but it's the only reason I assume ff.net has never sent out an alert notice for "Staff Invitations".

(And in honesty it's probably Kinsfire's propensity to always call yahoo "yahell" that drilled that nickname into my head. But it's how my mind processes it now. Just like before Firefox, I would occasionally browse the web with Nutscrape.)

With the setup of C2 groups, don't you only get a message when a new fic is added to it? So those massive groups you don't get e-mails for the fics already in them, right?

Yeah, you only get messages for new fics added. Somehow, the Order of Stories staff is finding around 6-7 fics a day on average so if you don't like email alerts watch out for big c2 groups.

And I think I've misunderstood that last question. Emails for fics already in the c2 groups? That'd be like a 1000 email alerts when you join wouldn't it? I'm quite sure I've not understood that...

No, you don't get the email alerts of fics already added when you join. I haven't, at least.

And a lot of alerts? lol, I have over a thousand in my inbox now. They're my back up plans when FF.net goes into read only mode or I've exahausted my normal stash. :D I love backup plans!

It is annoying, though, when they don't send that email when people request to join/for you to join. It took me three months to realize someone wanted to be a staff member, lol. Pissed me off too, because I had "Looking for staff" in my C2 summary at the time.

Heh, I have Gmail, which is great for shit like this. If they do a bunch in one or two days, Gmail automatically compiles all of them into one email. Really does help :p.

I can get my Yahoo mail to do that, sorta. I have it send all the C2 alerst to a folder. It was a pain to configure, though. I don't think I was supposed to be able to do that...

I think all he's done is made a folder for fanfic. Then gone to Options in Yahoo Mail. Underneath "Management" on the mail options page, you can set a "Filter". Then you can have it put everything with "New Story Alert" in the subject or sent from "bot@fanfiction.com" or whatever automatically sorted into a folder you make.

For example I've got everything from bot@fanfiction.com going to my "reviews" folder, but I don't get any alerts other than my own. Anything with "[nonjon]" in the subject gets directed to the folder for my yahoogroup. You get the idea. "Filters" are easy and useful for when you get lots of messages.

As for C2's, I didn't mean I would want 1000 emails when I joined a C2. Just that if the C2 exists already with pretty much every good fic in there, then you won't get many notifications, because all the fics are already in there. Anyone can browse the community and see what fics are in there, the C2 alert is just for new fics added, and those massive archives often you'll miss good fics that are buried in there.

I know this is somewhat off topic but... Why does everyone think I'm male?!

But Yeah, I was messing around with the filter settings... How I got it to just section the C2 alert's, I have no clue.

I thought you were male, you have a certain...quality :p

If it annoys you so, there's a little button which says gender in the user cp. Change it to female!

Mmhmm I would never be able to go through a large c2 to look for stories. I'm content with receiving new emails. While we're on the topic of c2's anyone have any recommended ones? While at first annoying, the new story added alert has ended up being a blessing in disguise.

*looks annoyed* I know I changed that to female before...

Meh. I have one, but I allow my sister to add slash, so. *shrugs* She doesn't add things very often though. Constant Vigilance

I always just assume male for unknown quantities on DLP. While females edge males in the HPfanfic fandom, on DLP there's an abundance of excess testosterone. But now I know.

And I'm not very good about keeping up with new fics and adding them to my C2, but I still do add them here and there when I come across a new fic. He really is just a snarky greasy git. Most often I get the fics from other C2s or here though. So... meh.

But mine isn't theme based like C2s were intended for. Mine's just a great big honking Favorites section for my personal tastes.

I've got quite a few of these over the last few months, Master Slytherin. I didnt see them until I checked my email one day and I had 10 sitting there waiting for me.

I just deleted the emails... I better decline them now, if they are still there.
