Lemmy is a network of federated discussion forums that are sort of like reddit, and experiencing a burst of growth because of the recent Reddit API drama. An HPFF community ("communities" on Lemmy are like subreddits on Reddit) went up recently, though it is not very active yet:

I’ve heard of Lemmy a few times recently after the reddit API drama.

I would be surprised if reddit went down, but other big sites have withered and died before....

 

Looks like it's run by the same people as the subreddit, so I'm not sure there's much point to its existence as it's not like it will offer a different ethos/perspective.

I didn't have any real problems with the HPFF mods on reddit before the crackdown. I.e. I posted there now and then and didn't have any posts deleted. My account had been around for a while though, which might have helped. I would say the subreddit's demographics were more like reddit (i.e. mostly male) than like fanfiction in general, and that wasn't always great. For better or worse, Lemmy is probably similar.

Probably not from our perspective. The primary purpose seems to be an alternative to Reddit, which from a user standpoint has gotten considerably worse as they try to wring more profit out of their userbase.

 

I took Taure's comment to mean that the Lemmy HPFF group is run by the same people who run the Reddit HPFF group. Obviously Lemmy's upper "management" (to the extent that it has any) and Reddit's are completely different.

See description there. Disclosure: it took me a while to figure this out but it seems to have a slowburn slash (Tomarry) romance going on. At first I thought it was a subplot being played for laughs but now idk. Romance isn't my thing but in this case it doesn't detract from the story much. Another angle is that it is an OP Harry story that is funny as hell, sort of like Make A Wish by Rorschach's Blot.
