A fun parody of all those fanfics where James and Lily manage to get a copy of the Harry Potter series and believe everything that is written in it as factual.


How the Marauders dealt with the potential of Peter betraying them is pretty funny yet simple at the same time.

 

So... James and Friends find the book HP/PS (and from how they talk, they actually found all seven) and share it with Lily and Severus.

Seen this idea before, already pronounced it fail.

Still, I read it - it's a one-shot, so I thought I'd give it the benefit of the doubt.

Humor wasn't very good, story was outright dumb. Classic 'Snape heard the prophesy and told Voldemort' followed by OUTRAGE... Peter betrayed us but we made him promise not to so it's all cool.

That's a fair point though, and pretty much sums up my opinion on the ship. So +1 for that.

And very quickly, a -1. Lily-flower... does a worse petname exist? Maybe they also call themselves Remus-wolf and Black-color when they're acting cool.

2/5. Certainly not library worthy, but not absolute bottom of the barrel either.

 

Not bad, it's sort of amusing, and the characters are done astonishingly well IMO, however, it just doesn't stick out, it wasted five minutes, but that's about it, I'll probably forget that I ever read this in about two hours.

I don't think this should be even in the Recycling Bin. Sure, it wasn't bad and I didn't want to gouge my eyes after reading it, but absolutely nothing interesting happened in this story.

 

I got bored by the third chapter. The story was bland, the characters (especially the Flamels and Lucius) were idiotic in their portrayal and the writing was way too formal for a piece of creative fiction. It was like reading from a textbook, there was simply no flow between paragraphs.

I don't think it's good enough for the recycle bin, never mind the library so I'm going to give this a 2/5.

 

I agree with others have said above. It's eh, it's not the worst of the bunch but it's not library worthy. Vlad had already mentioned the "lily-flower" part I was going to mention.

It killed some time though, so I'll go ahead and give it a 2.5/5.

 

Was Flamel even in this story?

I imagine the "lily-flower" bit was a parody of MWPP fics. For someone who has (unfortunately) read a couple of J/L fics the humor is more pronounced.

 

True, which is why I don't get it why people are getting so upset over the "Lily-flower" name calling when it is a crackfic, and Lily and James are not even a couple in this story.

 

Because Lily-flower is dumb and overused to the point that it fills us with hate. Some idjit made it up years ago and the mindless masses jumped on it for the sole reason of causing those who aren't intellectually challenged pain. See Vlad's post for clarification, because Vlad says it best.

Although, Vlad, you were a bit selective with your quote:

Because it isn't just as much of a cliche for James to say something dumb, and then fiery!Lily to threaten him over it.

 

Point. I suppose we can just agree that the fic isn't all that great.

 

As someone who has read a few "the marauders and Lily read the HP books and become a pair in love with their nonexistent child" I appreciate this parody. it wasn't that funny but it was still amusing.
