Let's GO Pikachu / Eevee confirmed.

 

Oho. That lush green game overworld looks fantastic on the switch. Lots of gimmicks in this release, but multilayer might be fun. I hope follower Pokémon is a major feature!

How do you guys feel about the go-capture method in a main game?

 

Given the fact that they said this is not actually Gen 8 (the real game's coming Q4'19) I'm actually interested in this game. The Pokemon Go integration is meh (and the multiplayer is cool but not for me), but playing through Kanto again in full 3D sounds great.

There's some snaps in the video that show follower Pokemon in certain events (for PokeRide at least) and they announced that your starter will follow you all the time (riding on your shoulder).

 

I don't mind the Go-Capture in the main Pokemon game. I wish they had switched it to look different, though? I don't hate the concept, I just think that it could be way prettier.

Thought the male character was supposed to be Ash in the trailer, but the artwork for him is much more flattering. The girl is adorable. <3

EDIT: Actually, the more I'm hearing about this on the whole the less I give a damn about playing it.

 

Er, no wild battles is definitely strike 1. Maybe strike 2 and 2.5 as well.

Shame. A yellow remake with a bunch of cool optional features would have been really cool. I loved Yellow when it came out, especially the silly anime references.

 

I feel like being completely uninterested in PokeGo is going to curtail my ability to enjoy this game to its fullest.

What's this about no wild encounters though??? How do you Pokemon without that?

 

Seems like I'll be waiting for the next generation then. Never even touched Pokemon Go and no wild battles is a sad reminder of Pokemon Colosseum which really wasn't what I was hoping for.

 

According to Eurogamer:

It actually looks interesting - check the pictures in that link. Instead of wandering through grass encountering your pidgeys over and over you'll see them in the overworld. I've always wanted the games to try something like that - spot a rare Pokémon and bust your arse trying to get around the pidgeys to it. Looks fun.

The go-inspired catching mechanics are a bit lame, but it'll be refreshing for me at least. I don't think it'll suffer from all the same pitfalls as the mobile game, considering our money and equipment won't be limited.

Nope nope nopity nope. With a side of nope. That is the final nail in the coffin for my interest.

 

Well that's just killed it for me...

I was already weary with the slight hinting at your starters never evolve like the original - which would be fucking insane with Eevee as a starter...

But not battles with wild pokemon? Err... like, I haven't played in a while, but I reckon 90% of my battles in the old games were from wild Pokemon - EVs farming, levelling etc. What even is a Pokemon game without wild battles? It also completely shatters the 'dangerous' aspect of Pokemon in the wild, like the iconic Beedrill scene at the beginning of the fucking series.

 

Pokemon Quest is so cute. Bulbasaur looks like he has a little present on his back. <3

 

So it's a mix of Pokemon Go and a cash grab? Pass.
