Chapter 7: Queer Lodgings I had a lot of fun with this chapter. I really like Beorn, he's brash, but not mean. He's suspicious, but willing to tolerate them initially, at least until he goes and proves their story to himself. He is also very trusting, letting them stay in his home, but i suspect those animals would rip and tear anyone who did inappropriate things.
Strangely for me this chapter was fairly lurching in time, even though we only spent two days at Beorn's house, Bilbo's late morning kinda threw me off.
The leaving of Gandalf is handled really well. Its clearly not permanent, but he has stuff to do and has been doing this for his own reasons, not for theirs.
