    Title: The Zoo Series
    Author: WannaPlayKevinBacon
    Rating: T
    Genre: Angst/Sci-fi/Drama/Adventure
    DLP Category: Alternate
    Pairing: none yet
Status: 1 and 2 complete, 3 in progress.
Summary: Muggles like putting exotic things in zoos and staring at them through the glass. Are wizards and witches any exception?
    Link: Number 1: The Zoo
    Number 2: The Island
    Number 3: The Window

Found this yesterday while looking through the Sci-fi stories at FF.net. Almost finished the first one, and it's pretty good as far as I'm concerned.
Deffinetly unique from what I've read and havn't run into anything that looked cliche.

I read this a while ago, and it honestly deserves to go into IP82's thread as a story that is barely readable.

Granted, the concept is amazing. It was what drew me into the fic, and I eagerly read the first few chapters.

Unfortunately, the execution fails. When I say it fails, I mean it fails like Kinsfire. The writing style badly needs improvement; the characterization is bland; the conversations take up half the chapter and are at odds with the way people chat in real life; the emo-angst-suicidal shit is overwhelming; and, worst of all, the idea is completely unrealistic. Did I mention that the author's writing style is boring and generally sucks? Because it is; a good writing style can make up for all these flaws, but it is lacking here.

Now, I think that muggles would win in a war with wizards. But the complete ease in which the Order of the Phoenix and the Death Eaters are subdued - I don't think a single muggle was killed - is a fantasy. Moreover, I just cannot see humans treating other humans like animals when those other humans speak the same language and come from the same culture, which is what happens in the story: quotes show this, such as when
A great author might pull the trick off with difficulty; WannaPlayKevinBacon is not even a decent author.

Finally, the one particular aspect of the story that drove me away was the complete absence of a plot. I have already mentioned the formidable amount of "emo-angst-suicidal shit." The whole story is filled with it. There is no plot; the only activity occurring is a constant stream of wizards being hopeless and depressed and unable to escape or really do anything interesting at all. Such crap nearly convinced me to kill myself; fortunately, I closed the red X box before such a sad situation would happen.

    Edit: Rating -
    5/5 for the concept
    1.5/5 for the execution
    So that makes it 2.4/5.

The concept is interesting... but people just really aren't that sick. Wizard holocaust and muggle anti-wizard Nazi-like groups I can believe, but zoos? For children? Bull shit. That'd take a thousand years to happen (ala Brave New World).

As well, nothing seems to fucking happen. It's just angst-angst-angst-muggle's suck-angst-angst-angst over and over and over again.
