I'm a fan of taking an idea, and warping it to fit another. So here's one that I haven't seen written well. (if at all)

In the movie WANTED( Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy), wesly(james) played a character with many similarities to cannon!Harry.

He had little in the way of cash, a shitty job, a cheating girlfriend(which Harry doesn't even have) and had no control over his life until his supposedly long estranged father was killed and a whole bunch of assassins with stellar control and near superhuman combat abilities show up to train him, aid him, and ultimately help him find himself.

They later on try to kill him, but let's ignore that.

The idea of a WANTED!Harry works similarly.

Harry IS in a prophecy which fucked up his life.
Harry DOES have a madman after him.
Harry DOES NOT have control over his life.
Harry has the potential in cannon to be magically powerful, even if he isn't really all that experienced.

Put Harry in a similar position after he gets his head through the whole 'woe be me, Sirius died' phase, and we can be pretty sure to see a Harry getting his ass in gear. The best part?

No godly powers.
No stupidly cliche plots.
No awful plot mechanics with big loopholes.(face it rowling, that dobby Apparating stunt was pitifully cheap.)

AND we get to see a Harry that is believable, has a goal, has a job to finish, with a method and means to do so instead of relying on some stupid power-he-knows-not.

 

Contradiction detected.

And their "near superhuman combat abilities" does sound like an overpower, godlike or not.

Why not just have Merlin appear and a dream, kill his dad who wasn't actually dead and then train him?

 

The basic premise of Wanted shows up all the time in HP fanfiction, especially crappy Indy Harry.

Harry has a shitty life. Harry gets trained in supra-normal powers by an elite and mysterious group. (Harry gets trained by the unspeakables anyone). Harry takes said skills and battles the bad guys with them. The only thing remotely close to an unusual twist here is that the bad guys trained him, but that's not unheard of either.

More importantly what exactly is your fascination with taking mediocre-shitty plots from movies and trying to warp them into some sort of super-Harry? And do you have an objection to using the plot bunny thread which is meant for exactly this sort of thing?

Fail on so many levels.

 

Don't ask anyone to take your dumps for you. Write this yourself.

WANTED itself is like a badly written Indy!Harry with its age old secret school (hidden in a plant), godlike superpowers (directing bullets around corners), prophecies (given by a weaving loom), and the overly twisted background of the hero.

Exactly. The movie WANTED is complete rubbish. It's even more disappointing in light of the amazing comic book that it's oh-so-loosely based on. There's no bullets-around-corners, assassins guilds, and prophecy weaving looms in the original. I wonder how a disaster like the WANTED movie ever evolved from the source material.

An HP fanfic based on the comic WANTED could work. The death eaters secretly won the wizarding war in 1980 and have been ruling the world from behind the scenes ever since.

 

I'd managed to purge that little bit of retardation from my mind until now.

More on topic: A cool version of this fic would be the Wanted people finding Master of Death Harry's name on their dumb murder loom and getting schooled by him Stalking Blood Sack style.
