Any next-generation fics worth reading?

Probably like many people here, I thought the epilogue was a piece of shit and I generally avoid next-generation fics. Are there any out there that are actually excellent and worth overcoming this bias?

I'd welcome recommendations both for Harry-centric fics (such as Unlike a Sister), and new-generation-centric fics. Thanks!

Personally, I didn't hate the epilogue so much as consider it unnecessary. The Book and the Movie would have been perfectly fine (better, even), if they end it before the epilogue.

As for good next-gen fic, here's a Crack One-Shot that makes fun of Slashers.

Someone's gonna say it, so it might as well be me:

    Hogwarts Houses Divided by Inverarity.

I'll quote from my FF.net profile, where it's #7 on my all-time top 20 HP fanfics:

Clash is a great next-gen apocalypse story and one of my favorite fanfics.

    Here's the summary:
Hallowed time twists is a decent next-gen time-travel story. Harry and his kids (and later, Ginny) travel back to Harry's fifth year. It can get a bit slow paced and a bit silly at times, but there is some really cool stuff in there.

Strangers of Drakeshaugh, as linked above, is awesome.

If you don't mind one-shots, then The Wendell That Wasn't is the one of the best fucking one-shots out there. If you haven't read it, then read it this instant. You won't regret it.

There was that one harry/pansy story that was on a website that's not ffn and that I can't remember (probably livejournal or one of those shitty sites). I'm pretty sure Harry had his kids by that point, so I guess it counts as next gen. I think it made it into the library here.

All My Love to Long Ago was a pretty decent next-gen story.

It was abandoned before it really hit its stride.

I would advise you to at least try and spell properly when on these forums. Abbreviations like pls and u are frowned upon here and it won't help you get any positive feedback if you're asking for help/fics.
Secondly, H/hr isn't very popular here and while it's fine to ask for some fics involving the pairing, you're likely not going to get a good response or that many fics recommended.

Plenty of us like Harry/Hermione (and a rare few like Harry/Ginny). Its just that most people can't write it worth a fuck. Most times, Hermione comes off as Harry's personal tutor although Harry already has the ability to eviscerate all the Death Eaters and Voldemort in a single chapter.

Since I just posted about this in another thread, and it fits here, I'm going to repeat it.

It's called James Potter Series. I still can't be bothered to google it to find the exact names of the books. I'm not sure if there were two or three books in it. Can't remember if it was any good.

It comes across as the opposite for me. I can recall plenty of great HG stories off the top of my head (The Phoenix and the Serpent, Strangers at Drakeshaugh, The Unforgiving Minute, The Wendell that Wasn't, The Death Gate trilogy, Backwards with a purpose) but hardly any good H/Hr stories. Plus, plenty of the early classics had HG - Barb's trilogy, The Hero trilogy, The Amulet of Time series, The Naked Quidditch match, The Awakening Power. HG has always been more important than H/Hr. Then again, I'm probably biased since I like HG and don't like H/Hr all that much.

There are plenty of terrible stories for both HG and HHr, but that is to be expected since they are so many stories with either pairing. The Mary Sue girlfriend complaints are as valid (or more so) for these pairings as it is for everyone's beloved H/Fleur or H/UnknownGirl, but the earlier pairings have been there for so long that they are called out more often.

Wow, a 7-book series that was actually completed? What is the basic story about?
