I think that this is one of the best stories I've ever read. To reiterate what everyone else is saying, characterisation is absolutely awesome and definitely an improvement over canon, simply because it shows everyone actually growing and reacting to their circumstances. Also, the sheer originality of it is a plus.

I've missed the worst of the slow update rate so far, but it seems like the chapters are getting heaps longer so maybe that'll balance it out.

Anyway, at this point I'd rate it 4.5/5 and round it up if I needed to.

    Updated.

I never noticed before writing this chapter, but JKR involves the ghosts in books one and two, then just kind of drops them altogether. Aside from a brief cameo in book 5, I'm not sure we see another mention of them until the last 40 pages of book seven.

And the Bloody Baron's back story really baffles me. Nearly Headless Nick says that you can only become a ghost if you're terrified of death. Why would someone scared of death commit suicide? I'm kind of wondering if the Gray Lady, selfish thief that she - by canon - apparently is, might not have been the most unbiased of historians.

Hope anyone still interested in the story enjoys. I'd apologize for the length of time between updates, but really. Is anyone surprised?

    Zomg!

    Brb, reading. :awesome

Will edit when I have something to say.

Minor mistake. Should be 'lose', not 'loose'.

Likewise, cannon should be canon and whole should be hole. (Yes, I realise this was an author's note, but it still jumped out.)

Anyway, great chapter, as usual. It's no exaggeration to say that you write the most interesting Trio I've ever read.

I liked your reasoning for why Occlumency would be easier for a child to learn; aside from the similarities to learning a language, it also seemed to tie in with Harry's wandless magic.

Not much else to say, other than :awesome.

I'd say MOAR, but we all know you'll take your sweet ass time with the next chapter anyway.

    *head explodes*

In all seriousness, if I haven't said it yet, this story is really fucking good. Some great intrigue, consistent characterisations and one of my favourite "Golden Trio" fanfiction portrayals I've ever seen. The writing's solid and there are no major mistakes floating around, so there's that. But mostly, it's the Trio stuff that carries this story. Keep it up. :awesome

Well worth the wait, as always!

You've got an interesting (and more importantly well thought out) take on magic, which is very refreshing. I can only think of a couple of other stories that are actually this well thought out.

    Update was excellent as always.

I am interested in Harry´s progress with controlling of wandless magic and if Golden Trio will find Diadem soon and realize its sinister quality.

This is quite simply the best !Independent Harry I've ever read. Period. Even the Occlumency trope seems to fit well into the plot you're weaving, which is always a plus. I like well used and well thought out placement of Cliche.

I am less interested in the whole 'Ravenclaw's Diadem' arc, although it is natural for a driven, cunning Harry to look for shortcuts wherever available. The characterizations are excellent in general. I get that the Trio are slowly isolating themselves from the school, and I'd like to see more consequences from that. Granted, they weren't exactly the most social of the students to begin with, but they were in the loop, for the most part; an example would be people becoming less helpful to them, since they see them as cliquish and snobby.

    Over all, a 5/5.

I rushed through this story tonight and was quite delighted by its quality. The writing is top-notch, characterizations fitting and the author keeps you guessing. A great plus was the brilliantly pulled of multi-POV narration, something that could've done the HP series a lot of good.

    4/5

This was very enjoyable. I mostly stopped reading fanfics, I'm glad I found this one.

Excellent chapter; the wait between them sucks (not that I can criticise...), but when the end result is of such quality (and quantity!) it seems a little churlish to complain. I really need to re-read the story to refresh my memory, but this is still one of the best stories out there, IMO.

I read this update and repeat what I said earlier. Great story, but the update rate makes me cry.

I found this in DLPs C2 along with a few others that seemed up my alley that I hadn't yet read.

And just let me say this -- wow. This is spectacular. 5/5 all the way. It was even updated fairly recently (just last month) so it appears to be ongoing.

Here's a copy of my review at ffnet.

I know you're jaded, jadedmutt, but there's this thing called an Edit button down there. Your post reminds me of that joke about the letter that says "I would have sent some money but the envelope was already sealed up."

Nobody wants to deal with those arrogant asshole google dicks and their little "Did you mean: Thestral?"

The Google gods deserve your five seconds. Have they not, in their infinite benevolence, deigned to bless us mortals with Instant Search?

    ARE THEY NOT MERCIFUL?!

You dun goof'd now; next time you're looking for something and click 'Google Search', you'll get a white screen that says "You're Feeling Unlucky." Then your head will asplode.

If you knew that you had a spelling error and your in a hurry, wouldn't it be faster to fix the mistake than to say that there is a mistake?

Not if you're on dial-up internet and aren't sure how to correct the error.
