You know how to avoid this problem in the future, right? Finish reading the fic before suggesting it.

Anyway the fic itself is nothing we haven't seen done a thousand times before. Although it's particularly bad.

I suspect that's where the history of getting beaten to posting a story comes in.

It wasn't all that bad, really. In fact, it was more readable than a lot of the stuff I've seen posted here over the years. And Dumbledore was incapable because he was purposely written as someone who'd gone senile.

Or did you miss the part where he finally just tried to kill Harry with a Sectumsempra to the throat just for the fuck of it?

His senility basically put him on par with the rest of Wizarding Britain in their prime.

No, nothing terribly new, but not revolting either.

I'm actually glad to see Morag get some screen time in a fic. It seems like half the time she's used in a story A: it's just a passing mention and B: she gets mistaken by the author for a Slytherin student. She has managed to be a (semi) main character in at least two things I was writing (not that those count).

At the risk of pissing off women with the name and fans of the saint, Morag's name is certainly no worse than Dorcas. I suppose if I ever have to pray to the patron saint of sewing, I'll be sorry I dissed Dorcas. At least the chances of me running into a woman named Dorcas that could connect 'RL' me to this post are vanishingly slim (more so since I've no plans on visiting the Netherlands). :D

FYI: Morag means 'great' or Mor = great and ag = little, which comes out to 'great young one'. It's also associated with the sun and is sometimes translated as 'Sarah'

    Then again, interpretations vary (greatly).

Morag is also Scotland's second most famous monster. Morag doesn't sound quite as good as Nessy though.

So, Morag is Cthulhu when young then?

If so, that'd make this a subtle, subtle HP/Lovecraft xover.

I'm currently reading halfway through the first chapter. When I read shit like that -- when shit is being heaped on Harry Potter for no reason at all -- it never fails to get me riled up. The more I read, the more I get worked up in anger, feeling excessively sorry for the poor Harry Potter.

I understand that this story, for instance, is a crack. In other stories it could be that the author is silly, or overzealous in showing the reader that, hey! see, Harry Potter is miserable, just how fucked up is that? (The same could be said about the "abuse" stories.)

Anyway, I just wanted to ask whether you people read these kind of stories with laughter, or, like me, bubbling in anger? I can't help it, I always get worked up into so much righteous fury, that eventually I cannot read anymore and have this urge to break something.

If he'd chosen the name Daphne he'd be getting all 5 star accolades.

Still, Morag. Exceedingly poor choice. Could have at least gone with Tracy Davis for the random Mary Sue. I am disappoint.

I don't know about 5 star but it would be at least get 3 star I believe.

I still give 3/5 it is noting new but writing isn't bad either.

I read this puppy. I knew it was crappish - but it kept my interest throughout the story somehow. Seriously - the characterization is horrible, cliches are aplenty, yet it was good for a single read. I honestly can't remember the grammar however, but I think it was slightly below average.

    2/5.

Below average for everything or below average for fanfic?

    'Cause there's a difference

I don't remember raking my nails down my face or gibbering like a madman, so...

Below average for fanfic. I remember that it was a slight chore to read - but it wasn't bad enough for me to cringe or feel rage.

I think it was fine free entertainment. I have read it twice.

It may not be very good by itself, but It is at the top half of a lot of other works.

Including the last few bones episodes, boy has that show jumped the shark.

When I saw H/MM, I was thinking why on earth would someone want to recommend a Harry/McGonagall story... I'm glad to see that it's not.

Edit to add: Over the top (which is to be expected in contract fics) but pretty good. 3 stars, given the genre.

I had already read this..but one of the same author's fics Runaway, I think is much more oriented to the demographic on this site (its one of those stories when Harry decides marrying Ginny Weasley is NOT in his best interest)

There were a lot of funny parts, calling Mandy a broomstick wasn't at all original because I've read many fics that refer to Ginny as a broomstick. Its your typical Harry seeks revenge fic, although I have never read a fiction when his eyesight gets repaired after loss of the scar horcrux.

It was worth reading for this one part...

"I'm waiting, Granger," Harry barked, only to see her wilt further as she desperately looked around for help. Her reaction not only confirmed everything Harry had just put together, but it told him the rest too. "YOU UNMITIGATED BITCH!" he roared, his magic leaping unbidden to pin her to the spot.

    overall 2.5/5

Reeeallly. THAT was good enough for you to make the rest of the story worth reading?

I read this probably two months ago. I won't say it was a good story, but I will say it was entertaining. I am, however, disappointed with the pairing. I wanted to be the first to post a HP/Morag pairing on FF.net, but this story beat me to it before I could finish mine. I haven't worked on my HP/Morag story since I read this one actually. Mood killer :(

I find this story to be boring and badly written.
