    WORM LONDON RPG

This is the Out of Character thread for the Worm London RPG. Posts in here will not be taken as In Character actions and have no effect in the game world.

    The Basics

Any action you want to take In Character must be posted in the IC thread, with description. If you roll dice to do it, use Invisible Castle to roll (with appropriate modifiers) and then post a link to the result in the post you make.

Out of Character is mostly for asking me questions, discussing character sheet related stuff, clarifying which powers you're using in a given post (links are useful) and general mucking about. If you're making a Declaration or taking an action that requires me to set a difficulty before the roll, post it here for me to decide on and I'll tell you what you're aiming for.

This is not the thread for discussing plans with each other. That should be done entirely In Character, just as if the characters were actually talking to one another. :p

Finally, there's a thing I want you all to use at the beginning of your IC posts so that we can keep track of stress and consequences easily. Goes like this (adjust stress for your own stress tracks):

    Character Sheet
    High Concept:
    Trouble Aspect:
    Other Aspects:
Stress: Physical: OOO Social: OOO Mental: OOO
Consequences: Mild: (None) Moderate: (None) Severe: (None) Extreme: (None)
    Total Refresh:
    Refresh Level:
    Fate Points:

    Important Stuff

    The Dice Roller
We'll primarily be using Invisible Castle as our dice roller. Just sign up for an account, click Roll Dice and then fill in the form to roll.

The Campaign Name is Worm London and the Dice is 4d3-8+X where X is your effective skill rating. If you want to get used to the dice roller, just put the character name as test. Invisible Castle keeps a record of what you roll and posts it onto the Worm London campaign page.

When you make a roll you must include the reason for rolling in the notes. It won't be counted otherwise.

    Core Rule Changes

    • Unavailable Powers: Cassandra's Tears (See Prophecy on the wiki), Ritual, Soul Gaze and the Sight.
    • Changed Powers: Channelling/Evocation (see below), Thaumaturgy (see Tinker), Demesne, Guide My Hand, Holy Touch, Righteousness, World Walker.
    • The pool of powers granted by Variable or Modular Abilities may not contain more Refresh points than ½ the character's total Refresh (rounded down).
    • 'Lore' is renamed 'Capes', but otherwise works similarly.
    • Thresholds don't exist in the Wormverse, beyond potentially being a part of a Trump power or similar device.

    Channelling/Evocation
    • Channelling & Evocation have Inner Focii wrapped into them and cost [-1] Refresh higher apiece.
    • Max Focii bonuses are limited by the user's Capes skill. (If your Capes skill is +3 you can have a maximum Focus Item bonus of +3.)
    • 'Spirit' is replaced with 'Force'
    • Item slots may only be used for Focii. In exchange:
    • Those with Channel/Evocation get Power Resistance: +2 to all rolls made to defend against an element they can control (Air/Earth/Fire/Force/Water).
    • Focus Items and Specialisations do not count towards targeting rolls. (Roll once at the relevant skill level, then add on the bonuses for control.)

Take a Consequence to Improve a Roll
You can take a single Consequence to improve an action.* This is the equivalent to a runner straining themselves for a sprint or someone hitting their head into the wall in an attempt to jar themselves from mind control.* Declare an appropriate Consequence and the severity of it (Extreme Consequences have to have a good story reason as per usual), after the roll if you like. Your character will get a +1 bonus per Consequence level (+1 for Mild, +2 for Moderate, and so forth).

Consequences inflicted this way can only be healed normally and not faster with Healing or Recovery powers.

    Player Characters

    Ashan - Fissure
    Corellon - Zephyr
    Mishie - Wisp
    Nemrut - Rosetta
    Lamora - Dynamo

    Themes/Threats

    Fortress London (Theme)
If There's Going to be Crime, it Should Be Organised (Threat)
A Wary Balance of Power (Theme)

    Faces of the Campaign

I'll be using the wiki on Obsidian Portal for the most part, but here are a few Faces/Locations to get you going.

    The Suits:
King of Coins - Formerly known as the Architect - Over time his power expands to cover the entire building he is in, giving him complete control over the structure while he is inside.
King of Spades - Black Dog - Imbues dogs with enhanced speed and strength, as well as short range teleportation. Speculation has him as having limited Master control over them as well.

    The King's Men
Lancelot - Tinker - Unknown speciality. Has a robotic horse mount, power armour and a lance with abilities that vary with each fight.

    The Gooners:
Big Daddy - Leader of the Gooners. Alexandria Package powers.
Arsenal - Tinker - Specialisation appears to be guns that can be mass produced.
Backblast - Blaster - Pyrokinetic that sends trails of flame towards his target, which then explode.
Construct - Changer - Can transform into a large, hulking creature made of lava.

    The Invokers:
Grimorium - Trump - An apparent Trump with a variable number of large scale powers.
Sunderer - Brute/Striker - Very dangerous. Very tough with a regenerator power that allows him to recover from serious wounds. Is also able to transfer wounds from himself to anyone he touches.
Nightmare - Master - Capable of making illusions that have an effect on the emotions of those who see them.
Plagueis - Blaster/Brute - Able to infect people with afflictions that, while non-lethal, can mimic real diseases. High level regenerator.

    The Unwanted:
Dagon - Brute - The leader of the Unwanted. Can turn his hair and fingers into tentacles.
Rust - Blaster - A cape that can decay non-biological objects.
Rebound - Mover/Striker - A speedster that can transfer kinetic energy to things he touches.
Propmistress - Tinker - Specialisation in what appears to be TV gadgetry.

    The Knights of the Apocalypse
Pestilence - Classification uncertain - Can create diseases.
Death - Striker - Can create melee weapons from nothing. Expert swordsman.

    Others:
Cipher - Wisp's black market contact.
Alice - Stranger - A Stranger that is blamed for having murdered a dozen families. Appears to leave no memory of her being there except for a vague recollection of a young girl named Alice. Friends of the all the families believe that she was their daughter.
Megaton - Brute - A cape that lives in the Trafalgar Wasteland.

    Locations

    Name: The Trafalgar Wasteland
Description: Behemoth attacked London nearly ten years ago, but the effects of his assault are still with us. A large swathe of London centred on the old Trafalgar Square has been turned into an irradiated wasteland, uninhabitable to all but a few (un)lucky parahumans.
Idea: An uninhabitable section of the city with a lone cape making it his home.
    Aspect: Behemoth's Legacy
    Face: Megaton
    Theme/Threat: Threat

    Name: The Tower of London
Description: The Headquarters of the Suits and famous London landmark.
    Idea: Suits HQ
    Aspect: Bastion of Justice
    Face: The King of Swords
    Theme/Threat: Theme

    Name: Buckingham Palace
Description: Palace owned by King William and the headquarters of the King's Men
    Idea: Royal Bodyguards
Aspect: We Will Never Fail Again
    Face: Lancelot
    Theme/Threat: Theme

    Name: Thinker's Theatre Casino
Description: A small, but exclusive place ran by a man called Armando Giolitti that caters to those with a desire for high stakes gambling in a secure environment.
    Idea: Elite Gambling House
    Aspect: High Stakes, High Society
    Face: Armando Giolitti
    Theme/Threat: Theme

    Name: King's College London
Description: A highly ranked and exclusive university in the centre of London. The Invokers are thought to have their headquarters in this area.
Idea: Student campus and HQ of the Invokers
    Aspect: Students and Secret Societies
    Face: Grimorium
    Theme/Threat: Threat

And finally, the most important thing I can say on this.

    Have fun!

So yeah, for the hideout, I was thinking that I own the place, and that since Zephyr and Dynamo don't really have families, they probably stay there as well, although Fissure and Rosetta probably have their own space there. Probably has the scene aspects:
"Looks better on the inside", "Security Systems', "Emergency Exits", "Tinkers Workshop" on it as well. Also, like I said in the other thread, since I'm the only one with resources, I'm going to assume that I'm buying everything for people.

Hidden Cameras and Alarm Systems can be merged into Security System. Otherwise they're good.

As a side note, don't get silly trying to add aspects for everything. This isn't Fort Knox we're talking about, it's a house.

Hmm, looking over the map, you may way to do a rough scale so we know how big it is, mainly want to know to see how much of it Ashan will be able to cover.

I can sense everything in a 1 KM radius and affect everything in a 100 metre radius (both spherical). As long as it's been in that 1 KM radius for at least 10 minutes, I can affect it the moment it enters the 100 metre radius. Think of it as a little sphere inside a big sphere. Area of effect: Little sphere. Little sphere can move around the big sphere (Big sphere shifts and shrinks accordingly), which is my detection area. There's no space in London for a building more than 2 KM wide and 2 KM deep, I expect. 1 KM radius = 33.4 million square feet (Circle). Even assuming I only have an effective range of 800 metres due to moving around, that's still 21.6 million square feet. Just think of it this way. Buckingham Palace is only 828 thousand square feet, Louvre Palace is 2.2 million. I think I can cover the whole area pretty easily.

I know that you can cover the entire building with your senses, I was just curious how much of the building and it's outsides you could manipulate whilst you were under it :p

100 metres ~~ 30 stories. The building itself is likely well covered, and the streets around it.

Not getting an email from Invisible Castle - In other news, name wise, we don't. No idea. Terrible at naming.

Just as a bit of an explanation of what I'm trying to do using the game mechanics, is that to put it simply, the point of Rosetta's distraction is to create various aspects that we can tag/invoke to help in our escape, we can do shit like justify that the security may be distracted from the fighting, or if things go bad we can invoke them to delay the Suits turning up, or even to invoke to say that their heavy hitters were sent to the fight instead of after us.

Invisible Castle isn't sending me any emails, which seems strange, I'll see what I Can do to fix that. Otherwise, my character is here: http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=845697

As far as the map goes, I'd guess the spaces are 5 feet across, so a 20 square radius sphere centered on Fissure is probably what you're looking at.

Hmm. If Invisible Castle doesn't send any of you emails, we'll move on to the other dice roller. Rolz.org.

---------- Post automerged at 11:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:16 PM ----------

Let's say that Fissure can easily sense the vault just by being in the general area, and can directly affect it from one block away.

I have you down as The Undecideds. :p

Those who haven't received an e-mail should try to register again. If that doesn't work, we'll go on to using rolz.org. Each roll must have a note before it (start the line with a '/' or '#' to use chat messages) saying what the roll is for. Room name is WormLondon.

On that note, rolz.org uses a different shorthand for dice rolls. The one we'll be using is 4U1+X, where X is your skill rating.

Nothing so strict as giving measurements. The way I've got it planned in my head is that the entire casino + basement is within Fissure's sphere of influence.

So yeah, explanation time for all the powers I have that I'm about to reference in the IC thread, I have Gaseous Form, which is on page 175, and it basically means that I have Physical Immunity to pretty much everything, PLUS I can ignore most borders so I can get into a room using only a tiny opening. I also have Enhanced Displacement, so I'm invisible, and it means that at best, all the cameras will see is a blob of air in the room, and thanks to my Aspect of Confusing Classification, most people think I'm a teleporter, so they wouldn't associate it with me.

There's also the fact that I have an altered version of Magical Compartment, meaning that when it comes to carrying things, I roll at a +8, which means I can lift up to the weight of a small car, this means that I'll have to take far fewer trips than everybody else would to carry the same amount into the tunnel.

tl;dr I've built my character around being REALLY good at stealing shit, as such, there's a reason why I'm pushing that I do most of the stealing, whilst you guys handle the other shit like causing distractions or holding off possible hero's turning up.

So, if we can start deciding on a plan, that would be good. If you're making any Declarations, post them in here and I'll decide the skill and difficulty rating you'd need to use.

So yeah, since I can't really think of a skill that's appropriate for declaring that a house is abandoned, plus it's kinda important so I don't want to risk fucking it up, I'm going to spend a fate point to declare that there's conveniently an "Abandoned Building" that's near the casino.

I mentioned I know the area and a convenient point. Was thinking of an older apartment block slated for demolition to make room for a new housing development should do nicely. It doesn't even need to be all that nearby. In any case, I think the plan right now is just do surveillance and vote on a plan after, with the plans being: Mishie's distraction-far-away, Corellon's Wisp+Zephyr co-op, and Nemrut's distraction-nearby strategy.

IC is apparently the bads, to the rolz room I guess.

Also, Aek is at work right now, so I guess we'll have to wait few hours to be able to do anything.

Yeah, I'll be back and ready to set up the next scene by 12am.

---------- Post automerged at 11:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:23 PM ----------

Okay, I'm back and mostly awake. Let's get this scene started.

EDIT: If I'm reading this right, Wisp and Fissure are going to scout the casino. Rosetta is heading out to convince the Gooners that a riot on day X would be a good idea. Dynamo and Zephyr are stopping back at the hideout until the others are done with their stuff.

Corellon/Lamora: If you guys want to head out on a quick side quest, I'll set one up for you.

    ---------- Post automerged 02-04-2014 at 12:56 AM ---------- Previous post was 01-04-2014 at 11:47 PM ----------

    Oh, one more important question.

@Mishie/Ashan: Are you heading out in costume or not?

---------- Post automerged at 01:39 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:56 AM ----------

Tell a lie, Dynamo is heading with Fissure/Wisp and Zephyr is scouting for escape routes. Will take that into account.

---------- Post automerged at 02:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:39 AM ----------

Okay, take a fate point off your character sheet and we'll be good.

    -----

    Two things to note:

    1) Do your characters know each others' names? Because it seems odd to me that teammates would call each other by their cape names within their own hideout.

Mishie - Wisp - Thomas Campbell
Corellon - Zephyr - Dai Rhys
Lamora - Dynamo - Jack Maxwell
Ashan - Fissure - Long Wei Li (Kyle)
Nemrut - Rosetta - Ege Masal

    2) Since IC isn't sending out e-mails we're going to be using Rolz.org. Only Corellon needs to join the group. Room name is WormLondon. One word.
