I'll take a stab in the dark here and guess #2 or else #3 going off of the reviews so far.

Yeah, and you two have the winner and second place reversed from one another so if it does come down to a tiebreaker, someone's going to have to change their mind.

I (most regrettably) did not participate in the Reread. Alas.

Then skim it and review it anyway? You don't have to do more than provide the basic 250 words of feedback, so provide it on the first paragraph or whatever. That's still review. Skim the rest and call it good.

Also I'll point out that my original concept for scoring here was to do something like...

    1st vote - worth 3 points
    2nd vote - worth 2 points
    3rd vote - worth 1 point

So the "out of 20" score is mostly for you to rank and for the author to use. But in terms of "who wins" we can use the Top3 scoring concept. But I've been out of it for a while and I'm not sure I made that clear, so I'll discuss with staff if we want to use scores or rankings. Because I did remember to specifically say that your rankings don't have to reflect your scores, just that they usually should.

More things to adjust for next time.

That said... did everyone have fun?

What exactly do you mean with your vote break down there. Forgive me. I read the thread above, I guess I just followed example in the matter of points/out of points.

It's essentially whoever has the most points.

1st place vote gets 3 points.
2nd place vote gets 2 points.
3rd place vote gets 1 point.

Sum the points together, and then we have a winner.

Hmmm... I'll discuss with staff, but let's say that I do the following.
THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE NOT MY ACTUAL REVIEW!

Story 1 Thread: Review, rate at 16/20
Story 2 Thread: Review, rate at 14/20
Story 3 Thread: Review, rate at 17/20
Story 4 Thread: Review, rate at 15/20

    Main thread:

    Top Picks:

    1st: Story 1 (16/20)
    2nd: Story 3 (17/20)
    3rd: Story 4 (15/20)

So I reviewed/rated in the threads, but then I ranked them by my favorites. In this case it didn't perfectly match my ratings. I just liked one story more than another, even though I rated it slightly lower.

But that might not be feasible or a good idea to do. That was the original idea. For now everyone is doing this correctly, so just keep on as is. I'm perfectly open to suggestions for the next one, but this seems to be doing fairly well regardless of how we tally at the very end. Honestly I think I just confused everyone more - keep calm and carry on.

I still need to discuss if that's how we're gonna do it - but it seems better than relying on everyone's scores out of 20 because some people will be a lot harsher than others, etc. But a ranking is a ranking.

Uh, that is *definitely* not correct. So far Submissions 1 and 4 have been in almost everyone's top 2 and Submission 2 should have 0 points. Not sure how you calculated those points...

    Submission 1: 2 3 3 3 = 11
    Submission 2: 0 0 0 0 = 0
    Submission 3: 1 1 1 2 = 5
    Submission 4: 3 2 2 1 = 8

And having done out the math it looks like yours just ended up mislabeled.

    Submission 1: 11 points
    Submission 4: 8 points
    Submission 3: 5 points
    Submission 2: 0 points

    2nd: Entry #1
    3rd: Entry #4

I’ll remember entry 3 longer than both 1 and 4 and want to see it expanded on, but we have to judge on what’s there right now.

I have to say all entries were high quality. Moreso than I expected. I really enjoyed reading and reviewing all of them.

    Thank you, mystery authors!

Edit: It’s 3:30 am and I’m on a phone. I’ll try to figure out how to link the things tomorrow on a pc.

Just to clarify: Ched's picks further up on this page were an example only, weren't they? Because he has only reviewed entry #1 so far and gave it 18/20, not 16.

If I'm right, then the standings as of now (after votes from BTT, Halt, Zombie, Shinysavage and Jarizok) are entries #1 and #4 tied on 11, followed by #2 on 5 and #3 on 3. I'm also not sure all the reviews meet the OP standards, especially the 250 word requirement.

Thanks for the reads, you mystery authors!

Yes, that was just an example, @James018. Since someone asked me about it. You'll know when I'm done reviewing mate. And I'll probably have a glance around at the 250 words from folks once I'm done reviewing, no worries. You might be surprised how little that really is though.
