That is a very off-putting gif.

Yeah, I felt it was a tad too much as soon as I posted it. Sorry. Just meant to be a snarky 'okay well you've got my interest' sort of thing that went sour.

It was funny and yet disquieting on a possibly spiritual level.

You killed it. I shall write about a 150 year if Harry contemplating the fleeting nature of morality while using the ressurection stone get some ghost-snatch.

I've started working on a new idea that I'll keep to myself this time(other than searching out a beta once I have some words down that I like). I think it hits the theme/prompt of Death better than my misguided "Romance" of last round.

Not much progress on the second outline was made so I stuck with my original idea, for which I‘ve started work on some of the more important set pieces. Looking forward to seeing how it all comes together.

It's slower going than I expected, but I'm at the final stretch, considering I intended for the finished product to be roughly 12k.

I'm sure I'll manage to submit my story for this one. I should be done in a week or two, so there's plenty of time left. Excited to read all the entries and learn from the feedback.

When you start out trying to write a serious fic, but your heart's not in it so it somehow becomes crack. Millwall entry here I come.

I hate to say it, but at this point all I'm doing is spinning my wheels on this prompt. Almost none of the things I've been tackling are exclusively centered around death(they have death as a by-product, or a background component to the setting, rather than be front and center) and the more I realize that the less productive I've become as I turn from one idea to the next.

So for better or worse, I'm bowing out rather than realize five days to the deadline that I've got to run with something and get another Romance situation where I grab the nearest thing in my desperation and grind my way out. I wish everyone the best of luck. Looks like this time, I'm going to have to sit down and review(ugh).

    Perhaps that's too stringent.

Possibly. But I'm not producing anything that I'm happy with submitting, and I've learned from the last year of writing for these competitions when to see a pattern to my behavior.

For the record I agree with this - we'll see what the turnout is. If it's poor compared to previous ones maybe the next competition we'll go back to some specific choices to see if that actually gets people writing, regardless of the type of prompt you all think you will write for.

But I'm hopeful - given canon there's a lot of fun ways to take this one.

I'm setting a timer for 15 minutes for anyone that wants to slip it in like I do with Sree's mom.
