It's 2019, you've been a loyal Harry Potter enthusiast for a long time and the wizarding world thanks you. However, in the very near future (but likely after your passing, you short-lived muggle) it looks like they'll be rescinding the statute of secrecy. You've already read their 'fictional' modern history books. Now, in preparation, they're planning to seed the world with magical artefacts too, to allow the return to be as painless as possible and estimate the muggle response.

Lucky you, you've been selected as part of this initiative. But, what did you get?

    ---

So, if you could have any one magical Harry Potter artefact/item/potion or creature (not being, you savages), today. What would you choose and why?

To what ends would you turn it?

How would you prevent avaricious muggles from stealing your precious?

    Remember,
a wand in the hands of a muggle may only discharge a chaotic burst of old magic dangerously and will never produce ordered magic with just a swish and flick. Unless you can remember the plot of The Cursed Child well, all the time-turners are smashed. If you choose a phoenix then you best be a Dumbledore or a New Zealand Sports Team and, lastly, did you learn the moral of the Three Brothers or will you scorn and mock death, to your folly?

If a poster above you has gotten their hands on a unique magical artefact, you can’t have it.

Philosopher's Stone, no hesitation. Assuming that as a Muggle I can actually use it to make the Elixir of Life.

If the PS is not available, then I would pick either a metamorph medal (a working one, not the fake ones Arthur mentioned in HBP) or a time-turner (to be used sparingly).

Choosing would be easier if I could actually read the image.

I've changed the picture, as it wasn't meant to be an options list, just something to stir the creative juices.

I am torn between something that I can use regularly or something that I can use once to great effect.

If I get a better and more usable idea, I'll change this, but pending time to think I'd go for a vial of successfully brewed felix felicis.

I'd hold onto it until a big lottery day, and then down it and go to a casino too, buy some shares, etc. This is all optimistically based on what the drug-urge would then make me do, but I reckon one good day might change the rest of my life positively somehow so that's good, and I don't have to worry about the other muggles stealing my vibe.

I'd pick Ravenclaw's diadem and wear a large hat over it all the time/keep it in a safe and get a gun so noone could ever steal it from me. I'd think of more concrete idea's for safety later of course. I would use it to become rich by uh- I dunno making wise investments?

I would take the Elder Wand to prevent real wizards from being able to use it. A preventative measure, as I am but a lowly muggle, and would rather a powerful wizard not become very powerful.

My immediate response before even reading the damn post properly was along the lines of...

    BROOM!

Logically I might not pick that, I might start to overthink and second guess and debate about money or health or life or whatever millions of reasons I can come up with to pick something else to make my life better.

    BUT BROOM!

My ideal magical item would be a Portkey I could change the destination on at will, or possibly choose from a preset list of destinations. I'm not sure if that qualifies for what you're asking, but it's easily the most practical single object for me coming out of the Potter verse.

As to how I'd protect it, I'd just have it be a regular, modestly cheap looking watch or pair of shoes or whatever, an unremarkable bit of clothing that I would basically never take off. Should more than do the job.

The philosopher's stone and invisibility cloak are probably the most useful to a muggle.

Either I am making mad money from selling my gold, or my life of crime just got much easier.

You know, the feeling of flying that I've experienced in dreams is by far the best sensation in the world. I treasure those dreams and remember them to this day. Provided a good Firebolt or Nimbus could be controlled by a muggle, I think that would be my go-to, given so much really does require being a wizard/witch.

If we are going with canonical objects still around then I would pick the mirror of erised. I would pick a price that's a bit cheap for it's value and cloak it as just a nonsense VR thing that can tell you your future or alternate path for a price. It would keep people coming and make me rich doing an unethical thing but giving me lifelong security in an easy and relatively risk-free way so long as no wizards find out. :)

I would love to have the Goblet of Fire. Because it would be a nightmare if some lawyer got their hold of a way to make any contract magically binding.

That is, assuming the Goblet is able to make any document binding similar to the Unbreakable Vow or even Hermione's cursed DA member list.

I'm going to start a fight club with the Goblet of Fire. It's time to bring gladiators back into fashion

I would have said the same as Agayek, but for something unique, I'd say the Deluminator, more for the ease of transport to anyone saying my name - it would make keeping in touch with friends so much easier. As for protection...I guess I'd just keep it in my pocket.

I said enjoy. Not face whatever demons that lurk deeply within my head and feel like I'm dying of thirst lul.

I wish there was more information on magical "drugs" or whatever wizards took to get elevated to the next dimension. Come on JK. Who cares about wizarding shitting habits, the real question here is do they like cocaine?

A Firebolt would be my first choice, but that’s not really an artifact.

A Niffler would be highly amusing, but impractical.

So I’d go for a two-way mirror. It’s like Skype, but better.

This raises a good question: are metamorphs ageless (i.e. immune to death by aging)?
