    This was difficult for me, partly because I felt like I was comparing apples and oranges. Each story had very different strengths and flaws. When I actually stepped back and thought about the elements of each story, I decided #1 was much clearer about who its characters were and did a better job creating obstacles for its characters (even if the characterization felt different than the books and the obstacles were over-the-top goofy). I wouldn't have minded the simple plot of #2 if it were a better character-driven story. Like I said in my review, I feel like the author of #2 missed some opportunities to make this a story about how the war changed Ginny, while she's seeking out the sword.
