Let's get tropey. Let's say that the Wizengamot is made up of hereditary Lords and Ladies, like the old House of Lords. Let's say those each seat of the Wizengamot comes from possession of a Warlockdom.

Who are the Lords and what are their Warlockdoms?

    I've started a map:

    https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1AK46NYlXgHWy2igKT6wI8Y0TG7AjhDIR&usp=sharing

Anyone with the link can edit. Let's see if DLP can brainstorm the whole Wizengamot.

So far I have added: Potter (of Stinchcombe), Malfoy (of Sarum), and Greengrass (of Bury St Edmunds).

Definitely need a Defender of the Saxon Shore in there, imo.

Clever, clever. I always figured the Malfoys for channel hoppers.

Have also added empty seats for Gryffindor (West Country) and Slytherin (fens). No doubt Harry will inherit them sooner or later.

Not sure whether the Hufflepuff seat in the south Welsh valleys should be Hufflepuff or Smith.

Did the founders even have living family members(with the name and all, not just descendants like Smith or Gaunt) when the Wizengamot was established?

Too lazy to actually edit the map, but the Flint Warlockdom should obviously be centred on Flint. And there's a Yaxley near Peterborough I think. Also the Macmillan Clan was based in Lochaber.

So thats 3 more of the Sacred 28 covered.

New idea, because editing the map is a bitch.

Attached is a map of the traditional ceremonial counties of the UK. These pretty much are the counties as they existed in 1066, plus Wales and Scotland. So let's have the Warlockdoms of the Wizengamot correspond to those.

    To summarise:

Warlockdom of Sarum - Lord Malfoy - Wiltshire

Warlockdom of Gwyn's Waters - Lord Black - Somerset

Warlockdom of Stinchcombe - Lord Potter - Gloucestershire

Warlockdom of Bury St Edmunds - Lord Greengrass - Suffolk

Warlockdom of Tintagel - Lord Gryffindor [Seat empty] - Cornwall

Warlockdom of the Fens - Lord Slytherin [Seat empty] - Norfolk

Warlockdom of Flint - Lord Flint - Flintshire

Warlockdom of Ely - Lord Yaxley - Cambridgeshire

Warlockdom of Islay - Lord Macmillan - Argyllshire

Here are my suggestions for Longbottom and Bulstrode.

Both names have geographical connotations. Strod means marsh so I'm suggesting Cambridgeshire as another location with lots of marshland for the Bulstrodes.

For the Longbottoms a place with a prominent valley/gorge would make sense. For them I would suggest Shropshire, location of Ironbridge gorge.

Edit: Noticed we already have Yaxleys for Cambridgeshire so I'll amend the Bulstrode suggestion to Lincolnshire.

I’ve always thought somewhere in the Pennines for the Longbottoms, perhaps in Cumbria.

The Rowles, with such a Danish name, would be near York.

I feel the Blacks may have London? Or if not them Olivander as his family came there with the Romans.

Yes, I personally probably would have put the Blacks in Middlesex - curious as to the reasoning behind putting them in Somerset.

The Blacks could be in any number of places. I quite like to try and tie them in to some historical context rather than just drop a pin in a map. For example, one of the possible roots for the Black surname was Wulfric the Black, who had lands in Staffordshire circa 900. Or for some irony you could have them actually be an offshoot of the Scottish Clan Duff who held lands in Fife. The Wizarding Blacks in the 1500s wanted more influence in the newly established Wizengamot, and changed their name from Duff to Black to hide their 'provincial' roots.

Or you could go with the somewhat tenuous Lincoln connection. In one planned story I had them as descendants of the Kings of Lindsey.

Hell, you could even just dump them in the Black Country.

Warlockdom of Fawley - Lord Fawley - Hampshire

And the Lestrange family seem to be important in France, based on having such a huge mausoleum, so perhaps they were significant in the Conquerors invasion in 1066? Maybe give them the Warlockdom of Hastings, in Sussex?

Don't quote me on it but for some reason I feel like the vast majority of Time Travel Fics involving the Blacks have their "Ancestral Manor" in Sommerset. At the very least, either Delenda Est, Wind Shear or Stepping Back involve Sommerset and the Blacks in some way. I think it might have been where the Blacks are buried in Delenda Est?
