Alright if anyone has ever seen My Name is Earl they know that it is about a guy going around making up for all the bad things he has done in his life.

In this challenge I figure Voldemort has realized that many bad things have happened in his life and after some comment or another he comes to believe that it is all thanks to the bad things he has done in his life. He makes a list of all the bad things he has done (optional) and goes about making up for them.

This would obviously be a humor fic and I think it would work best as a series of one shots kind of like episodes, but it is up to the author.

Any comments or questions?

 

That would be one helluva list. A couple hundred pages, at least.

Still, no matter how improbable that is, I would love to read this kind of fic.

 

Well the list on the show has over a hundred entries. Still, somehow I think Voldemort's would have more.

 

Hell, why not extend this to all the Death Eaters?

Just because everyone would want to kill him it may be a bit harder but it just makes it better!

 

I think it would be best if you threw in some humorous ones like #427 cheated off of Minerva on my Transfiguration OWL.

 

How would that go?

"Hey Minerva I want to be a good guy now!"

Random screaming.

"Where are you going?"

Que massive battle.

Admittedly, this is a great idea. I can see some elaborate ritual spell designed to destroy that which Harry loves most. And just like Halloween 1981, it rebounds and nails Voldemort, destroying his 'evilosity'. And now we've got Tom Riddle introduced to (and a big fan of) karma. He makes an all new list. Which surprisingly has many of the same names as his old lists.

I think 'My Name is Tom' feels more apropos to me. Starting with Myrtle. And maybe then the Riddles. I just picture Tom standing in front of some gravestones. "Well, Mr. Riddle, I'm real sorry I defiled your corpse and used your bones to fashion myself a new body. And of course for killin' ya too. That's gonna be a hard one to make up for. But I remembered how you said you wished I'd have been tied to the back of a pickup and dragged all the way across town. So Mr. Riddle, dad, this one's for you." Tom turned to his left and ordered, "Hit the gas, Wormtail."

Yeah. There's definitely a lot of potential here.

 

We could make it a contest:

- First brainstorming for a list of all the things he has to make up for.

-Then every -choose a time span- we select the best one-shot between all the DLP writer who choose to participate and put it on FF.net under a general pen name.

It would be much better with a regular author as joint things never end up well. I agree, "My Name is Tom" would be a better title.

 

Is anyone else familiar with the story "Tales from the Barman..." ? It's a buffy fic over on Twisting the Hellmouth where Methos set up an open ended scenario (in his case; Xander opens a bar in Cleveland and meets weird people in the night) that everyone else has tacked on to. It's up to more than 250 chapters in the past two months.

This is just the sort of scenario that would work for a HP related story. I'm sure alot of us have ideas for one or two scenes, but writing the whole fic just a lot of freaking work... If someone started it, I'd certainly chip in a few entries.

 

I've read a story or two like that, but I could never really get into them with all of the conflicting writing styles. I'm not saying it couldn't work, I just think it would work better as an independently written fic.

 

When I first read this idea it screamed Voldemort on a ten-step program to me. Especially with the "My name is Tom" title. Talk about Dumbledore's ultimate plan of redemption for the forces of darkness...

I'd read it for laughs that's for sure.

 

If a talented author took it up, I would love to read it. The potential for this story is unlimited. Good challenge Xantam.
