All I have to say is holy crap, it is like they are protecting a nuke or something. These people are talking about steel chains.

Also in other news I heard that the US special edition will now be 816 pages.

A copy of Deathly Hallows, bound for the President, has been placed under Secret Service protection.

What next? the US army stationed outside the bookstores?

That wouldn't surprise me one bit. Though it might scare a little kid away if he gets to close to the storeroom and 20 armed men train their sights on them, with another 40 camped outside ready to snipe anyone getting too close the the Holy Grail.

    *edit*
Just reread the story and it wouldn't be the U.S Army, This publisher is the European Bloomsbury.

    I can totally see that.

"Tcch. We have a foreign object approaching the package, fire at will."

The next day we hear about some 8-year-old being shot 40 times for approaching HP&DH, and no one will care because it hasn't been leaked except the fundamentalist Protestants and no one listens to them anyway.

I give it 5 days tops, after release, before it is leaked onto the internet anyway. That will probably when I read it anyway.

Why oh why must they make me wait for free stuff. *goes and broods in a dark corner*

*tries to imagine the reaction to the end of the book*

"I heard something... it was as if ten million fangirls cried out in rage, and then were silenced completely..."

Back on topic, I could totally see bookstores hiring private security to guard the warehouses in order to prevent the leak of the book, in addition to the ones already hired.

Well, you said it yourself: after release. They wouldn't want their sales affected beforehand by the text appearing online. Once they have reaped their profit (which they will in the first couple of days), they won't care so much.

In all honesty, I wouldn't be surprised to see it a day before release leaked onto the internet. Despict, or in response to the additional security. Enough of this talk though, we are possibly getting to close to warez talk. I believe that is one of the few things the people in power frown down upon. Released on the internet or not, I will still find to time to shell out the 20-30 bucks this baby is going to cost, if nothing more than to say that I own all 7 main Harry Potter books. Who knows, I may be pleasantly surprised. *shrugs*

Last time it leaked as well, perhaps submitted by some bookstore employees.
As the books will be delivered to hundred-thousands of bookstores all over the world some shops will get it a week, perhaps even two weeks in advance. There is no chance to keep it and especially its ending a secret.

This entire scenario is a publicity stunt. As if people are so fucking worried about the ending of a book that they are willing to have steel chains and armed guard protecting the crates.

Mark my words, there is going to be at least one store that somehow manages to accidentally sell a hundred or so copies of the book, despite the security measures, and then has to give big payouts to shut people up about the ending. It's all about publicity.

There will always be a shop which sells it early, people are too stupid to be able to follow simple instructions.

I don't think any other book has recieved such measures before either.

Ahhhhhhh, music to my ears. I will be the one to silence them, permanently.

Ahem, anyways, they'll have more luck finding an albino dinosaur than restraining this.

I always knew that HP was popular, but bloody hell, this is just going overboard. People have been waiting for at least a year (estimate) for DH to come out, a couple more weeks won't kill them.

This is why I hate people so much. Their stupidity has ceased to amaze me. Besides, it's not like JKR is that good of a writer. Look at all the plot holes in her work.

I don't know where, but I remember hearing her say that there would still be some unsolved issues in the end of the book. Uhh...Isn't the last book supposed to cover up the loose ends?

    Eh.

There's something to be said about reading a long story on paper as supposed to a glaring computer screen.

I got HBP two days before it went public through the net. Doubt this'll stop it.

Considering that there will always be either unscrupulous people at bookstores who will either sell or release it out of spite, or just people who want to post it to be "that guy", there's really no way to stop it completely. Of course, if you spoil the ending for me, I'll do something I swore never to do again since someone spoiled OotP - write an entry complaining about it in my never updated blog.

    You've been warned.

Can you please tell me where all these fucking plot holes are that people talk about? And I don't mean whine like a bitch about the shit you don't like or things that haven't been solved yet because the last book isn't out. Point me to some real, serious, glaring plot holes. Please. If the answers are unsatisfactory as to make me believe that she isn't that good of a writer I'm going to hold you as someone who just follows the crowd and says there's plot holes to fit in here.
