I just realized something.
In all the azkaban stories that I have read, Harry has always learned wandless magic, or kept a wand, or become an animagi. (?)

Why have I never seen a story where Harry has a magical animagus form and simply plucks a feather, hair, *any removeable part of an animal* and simply perform magic with the hair, feather, etc. acting as the core.

Just perform magick with that as the medium.

I know it is dumb but I figured it might be better than the average "I learned wandless magick"

Hindsight is 20/20 I just remembered almost no one is writing azkaban stories anymore...and I spelled magic/magick in both forms.

I'm still trying to work out how a prison designed to hold magical prisoners always turns a teenage Harry into Uber!Mega!Ultra!Harry. You would think there would be safeguards against that sort of thing.

Then there's the fact that Azkaban always seems to hold mysterious artifacts of ancient and dark power...that no one thought to remove from a prison.

Hell, if all I have to do to become a demigod is to get chunked in Azkaban sign me up.

 

How did the whole Azkaban genre start anyway? Most such fics are quite unrealistic in my opinion. It just feels odd that everyone always abandons poor Harry in such fics and then he gains superpowers and makes everyone guilty and whatever.

Who wrote the very first Azkaban fic i wonder?

 

How did it start? Too much Count of Monte Cristo. Who wrote the first story? I dunno.

 

And yet, with one exception that went overboard on the super!harry bit, I've yet to actually see an Azkaban fic that held even a shadow of a comparison to Count of Monte Cristo. It would make for an awesome Azkaban fic. Though, I suppose it would help if the author had actually, I don't know, READ the story.

Though I suppose the real challenge would be finding an author that would write a true HP version of the story without making it a Harry/Ginny - Draco/Ginny fic.
