I don't see the problem with this relationship as long as the setting is appropriate.

Remus still dies, but Tonks survives the Battle of Hogwarts.
Maybe for added drama, Andromeda put her out of commission and went to fight in her stead.

Harry sees Tonks with her son sitting by the covered bodies of her family and it breaks his heart.
He decides, that the wellbeing of his godson and Tonks have the highest priority for him.
Doing his very best to provide for them and be a father-figure to Teddy he doesn't waste any time on his own romantic relationships.
So Ginny fizzles out before it even starts again.

After a certain amount of time spent in close proximity to each other things start to develop for Harry and Tonks.

 

A 14/15/16 year old dating a 22 year old is, while not common, perfectly legal in most of Europe. I agree that any serious relationship in the time frame of the first three books is unrealistic but by later books that relationship seems fine, especially compared to some of the canon alternatives.

This is an interesting question. Anyway legally it can't be right but Tonks is more closer to a teenager than mature women. Honestly does she seem any more mature than Harry in canon. It could work in secret relationship but probably wouldn't work publicly due to disapproval of his friends, mentors, societial pressure at large.

Well no but generally 20 year old girls actually are not that mature at that age. In this case Tonks is what 4 or 5 years older than Harry. Its not really a big gap except in legal terms. Is there really difference in the level of maturity and the way of thinking between them.

Thank god that someone has finally said it. AoC doesn't mean shit. A healthy relationship will usually have 2 people that are somewhat similar stages in their maturity. Like the example @BTT used, 40 and 33 aren't a huge deal. Two consenting adults of reasonably similar maturity. A 16-year-old and a 24-year-old is significantly different and problematic as hell and anyone who doesn't see that needs to sort out their priorities

Would a relationship between Tonks and Harry be morally wrong in the real world? Yes, no question about it. It would be very fucked up for 20 something Tonks to get with Harry at that stage in his life. Beyond just the fact he’s barely more than a child, dude has had a shitton of Trauma that would really add to the predatory nature.

Does this matter? No, because its fucking fanfiction lol. You can like the pairing and separate the actual moral ickiness because… its just a random pairing.

It's a difference of four years rather than five, but at a lower age. Teenagers develop rapidly; we can presume an 18 year old is substantially further ahead of a 14 year old. This doesn't even get into the 'half your age plus seven' rule of what's weird; this is literal predation.
