Well, I've almost finished beating Lord of the Rings Return of the King in co-op mode again and I must say I think it is one of the best two player games out there. My question what do you guys think are the best two player games, not online, just two player for video consoles such as Playstation, X-box, Nintendo etc and why.

For me the ones that come to mind now are Lord of the Rings Return of the King and the old school Super Smash Brothers.

LotR's two player mode is very enjoyable, and really the only faults i find with it are the camera angles are very awkward, and it is kind of short. The good points are that it merges the movie and game very well, it can be a challenge at levels, and you get to kill endless amounts of orcs.

Super Smash Brothers is just a classic for me. It really doesnt have anything amazing to it but when it came out it was original and addicting.

    Your thoughts?

Lego Star Wars kicks major arse.

If you think I'm joking, go download the demo from somewhere. It's the best Star Wars game ever made.

Time Splitters 2 was fucking nuts with 2 people. Beat the game in less than 4 hours with my buddy once because we got he timing down so well. Gears is goods as well, Halo 2 is always fun... can't think of any more.

Rainbow Six: Vegas has an excellent cooperative mode. It's sweet.

Forgotten Worlds on the megadrive. Why? Because it's impossible to finish on single player. You pretty much had infinite lives with 2 players which you needed as it was hard as hell.

Super Mario Kart on the Super Nintendo was always fun to play with 2 people.

EDIT: Left out Street Fighter. Most of that series is fun to play with another person (Guile and Sagat ftw)

Mortal Kombat was crap as the moves were too tricky :(

Epic Obscure old Arcade Game is epic. The port to PS was a fairly accurate and fun time as well.

The Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance series was pretty kick-ass, IMO. It was practically made for two people to play at the same time.
