I value the worth of a story for its worth. I don't care in the least if the ratings for it are K, M, or Q, especially seeing as how arbitrary the ratings are chosen most of the time. The arbitrariness makes it seems... arbitrary. =/

Then preaching about how I don't have my I's dotted or my T's crossed without actually weighing what has been posted seems as pretentious as it does anally retentive and 'perfectionist'. I'm bound to forget small details that have no bearing on matters from time to time, and while I'll always do my best to correct them, or ignore them, I'm not going to apologize for telling you to go fuck yourself with a rusted box cutter for being a condescending anal retentive plebian. Anyway, I find it rather pretentious that you find me a perfectionist because I ask that you give me basic information about the Fan Fiction you recommend, things like pairing, rating, and such do, actually, mean something.

Some of us, don't like to read or avoid certain pairings and low or high ratings, but forgive me, just because you don't use it must mean no one does.

 

And some of us like to take forum topics completely off the original subject.

 

The last time you got on me about 'story format' was at a different forum where I forgot to put in the 'pairings' in a story that had none to begin with while every other bit of the format was done correctly. A capital offence to be sure with the seriousness in which you acted.

I'm not making excuses for my laziness in the post in this thread. I'm just saying that when the first thing I see is you calling me a dipshit while patronizing me in a condescending manner I'm bound to respond in kind. If you had said "Hey, could you post ratings and pairings (if there are any). Some of us like to know that stuff", I would have said "Oops, my fuckup there", and I would have gone back and edited it. Instead, you acted disrespectful, regardless of whether you were right or wrong, and you act surprised when someone calls you on it?

Maybe you should put me on ignore so that my habits of forgetting to dot my I's and slash my T's won't offend you any longer. I know I'm going to do so as your attitude certainly offends me. =/

Anyways, I went back a couple pages to see if this link has been put up yet. It hasn't.

This story has a good style to it, and it brings up some interesting questions regarding the Wave Arc that I haven't heard asked before. I dislike the use of vehicles in this story, but that's a minor annoyance in such a character driven story. The early 'romance' between Haku and the young girl Mari is very well written, considering that almost any attempts at romance that are found at FF.net are horrid, to say nothing of tasteless.

Parts of his story could actually happen in canon. The amazing thing about that, is he finished this 8 months ago. One of the best Naruto stories around easily.

Another story from the same person. This one is very original and refreshing. I would tell everyone to stick with this because he really does a good job of making everything his own. And the recent chapters have been mindblowing with all the developments. He's improved from his last effort and it shows. I can see this becoming a great story when it's finished, better than the last one he made.

 

The one story... I think I got 4 paragraphs in... learned Naruto smoked and hit the x button. Thats just a huge no-no in my book.

As for the other one? Its a little too canon friendly for a fanfiction.. I read fanfiction for the fiction part.

 

Probably not your taste. He has a really dark and depressing mood to his stories.

The first one you're talking about is Trail of Freedom. I got past that and it's amazing. It's the one of the most original fics yet. Try and get past a few chapters and you'll see what i mean.

The second one is Hands of Destiny. He does put some original stuff, he just ended up getting a few things right with what he does. For example Uchiha Madara being the leader and everything. The story was made nearly a year ago.

That's Trail of Freedom. He is actually part of Konoha. I, personally, like his OCs. They have some depth.

 

Actually i read the story. I have to agree with pain. It's very interesting, unique take on the world of ninja, refreshing and very well written. It's new and different rather than reading fics that are very repidative not very original.

 

Did you read the newest chapter?

He really took it to another level. It looks like things are finally getting started, i thoroughly enjoyed it.

What is wrong with character's smoking? Because you don't think they should? What about Naruto being all dark, cruel and mean? It goes against the core of his character and what made him unique in the first place. Does that mean that it is also a big no-no?

Anything in fiction is allowed as long as it isn't something which is impossible, like making Naruto pregnant or something stupid like that. It's up to the author to give reasons and explain why.

Would you have expected Shika to smoke? He's 15 years old in the manga. His reason was because he took on his mentor's spirit and had a job to finish. So even him smoking after that's been done isn't plausible. You'd have to give a reason for him to continue.

And i disagree with Cataclysmic. It's a lot better than the majority of Naruto fanfiction out there. Which consist of those that don't even take place in the Narutoverse or those where he grows up differently, is strong, smart, badass and basically shows up Sasuke where the author thinks he should.
