Has anyone ever written a fic that goes into time turners more deeply than harry simply finding one and using it to train for years in the space of a summer?

I ask because it is an idea I have been playing around with a bit, and I have a lot of spare time until october when i go to university so I could get a lot of writing done, however, if something that goes into the history of time turners more and has harry crafting one and actually using it for more than training has already been written i won't bother as i know i would read it and end up using a few ideas from it, which i don't want to do.

 

There are a lot of fics that use accidents with a Time Turner to send Harry back in time, and there is THe Caitiff's hilarious Harry Potter and the Freak Parade in which Harry gets an experimental Time Turner and goes back to the Marauder era. I have not seen any fics that have Harry make use of a Time Turner outside of training. It seems to me that would be an excellent Dark! or Independent! Harry fic - Harry uses the Time Turner to train at Hogwarts and attack Death Eaters all while not missing any classes. It would probably have to be a SecretIdentity!Harry fic...

 

You wanna know what happens when you wear two time turners and twist them simultaneously in different directions?

God I hate that story.

 

I was thinking along those lines Jearom, making Harry able to fight without raising suspicion.
I was also thinking of maybe having harry accidently see his time turned self and nothing happening, making him realise it is safe to see himself and then using a time turner in fights so that there are two of him fighting.

 

oooo, Harry not fighting solo against one hundred death eaters by calling up a necro!T-rex, I like it! It would allow you to keep some normality to Harry's power level, while still allowing him to kick death eater arse.

 

I may have to lower myself to making Harry find a book that teaches him how to make time turners and he suddenly becomes good at it, or I may need to resort to him being taught how to make them by a mysterious stranger he finds.
Both are horrible cliches but I really cannot think of any other way for harry to gain the knowledge of how to make a time turner.

 

You could always pull the whole 'Harry hits a random table of timeturners in the DoM and uses the one that somehow drops in his jean pocket.' That's always a good plot device, eh?

 

Even better than that is the 'Harry gets back to privet drive a few weeks after the department of mysteries stuff and only then discovers that a time turner has been in his pocket the whole the time'

Well that was nice and confusing.
I think i will stick with just two Harrys fighting, 10 seems a bit excessive.

 

Well, there was one fic where Harry made quite extensive use of time turners and time manipulation that comes to mind, I think it was called 'mastermind hunting'

 

Yeah it could throw Harry back, and replace him with somebody else.......not sure how, but it could happen.

It would be a nice fic. Harry's jewels and wand in future and ass in past.....

 

It could somehow create a version of a horcrux. The time turner actually sends a soul back/forward in time, the body just follows. So either there becomes two Harrys, or he splits in half an dies immediately.

 

Harry would discover this of couse by watching a drunk Dudley fuck around with two of them.

 

Hmm. What would be interesting would be an Ouroboros. Harry can go back in time to teach himself how to make time turners - then goes back to teach himself.
