I was looking around before and saw a thread that was dead for months and someone started posting again in it, I know some forums use different formats , systems or whatever but I've seen on most of them old threads being locked, I know it'd be time consuming and annoying but why not lock old and/or dead threads?

    thanks

I believe that threads are open for the sole purpose of people posting useful ideas or opinions in them. It is pointless to necropost for the reason of stating something everyone was aware of, but if you have a rebuttle or an idea that can get the thread going again, I see no reason not to necropost.

That is a tempting suggestion. But I think I'd still rather see an old thread necroposted than a new one started for exactly the same discussion, as is often the case.

Of course then they could simply message a mod anyway and ask them to unlock a thread, rather than newbies making newbie mistakes.

Dunno. Any other staff know a better answer to this one?

I like this thread. I think I'll post in this one again in about a year or so.

    Necro, ftw!

Just kidding, me no necro me a good boy.

I like the taoist philosophy, just let it be. wei wu wei, people! If people want to necro, why stop them?

I don't get it. Someone explain to me?

I say, if a thread is dead for two months, lock it. If something new or spectacular occurs that warrants the thread to be unlocked, the poster can take 10 seconds and fire off a message to a Mod.

Although, I must admit, it is fun ragging on noobs who necro.

Why do you need mods to close a thread if you could just find out by fucking looking at it that it is old? If people would just use their damn brains there'd be no need for extra mod work.

As it has been said before, time and again, if you have something relevant to say, you are allowed to revive an old thread, rather than starting a new one.

Because it'd be time consuming and annoying.

That could work fo the general chat forums. But in the Library I think making the thread(stories) A-Z would be better so that a thread doesnt get jumped to the top for being posted in.

Does necroposting apply to reviewing stories in the library as well? Just wanted to make sure before I went ahead, and posted.

Necroposting Library threads is allowed. Some people do think poorly of it unless you have something important to say though.

The Hell? Forget explaining the discussion to him, someone explain what he said to ME?

    ;) Joke

Personally I'd say leave them open. Yes we could probably cut down on the necroposters by locking old discussion, but do we really want to remove the source of entertainment they provide?

You do realise that that's exactly why it should stay as it is? If a story's updated, I want to know about it without having to actively search for it.
