So, according to Potter Law, I thought i had a new, original idea for a HP fanfiction, so i stepped back and thought about it for a while, but I can't think of anyone who has done this.

Has anyone ever seen a fanfiction in which:

Dumbledore and Harry work actively together, both on the social/political front, AND in fights?

I'm thinking that many have gotten so caught up with the independent Harry and evil Dumbledore fictions that there hasn't been much attention paid to what they could do working together as two important (and in Harry's case, at least supposedly) powerful wizards.

 

No, it's not a new idea, nor one that is hard to come by.

However, I don't think it's ever been executed that well.

It WOULD be nice to see a good execution of it, but I'm not confident enough in my writing skills to try it myself.

 

This has been done a fair amount in less dark/indep. stories--Abraxan's "Refiner's Fire" and "Time of Destiny" come to mind. (Aside from the story being H/G, 80% fluff, and about 10x longer than it should have been, it's not the most horrid execution of this kind of story).

 

Yep, Abraxan's stories are the first I thought of, too. Also there are a few time-travel fics in which Harry reveals everything to Dumbledore, i.e. DrT wrote one of that kind (H/Hr I think).

It's just that most of these stories are (romantically overdone) H/G, so that's why they aren't listed in the DLP library.

 

I'm writing one where Harry gets along well with Dumbledore, It's a bit crap though...

A lot of ideas have already been used in fanon for better or for worse.

 

If I had a dollar for every promising idea those words covered, I'd retire.

 

Shezza88 wrote one that had Harry and Dumbledore fairly friendly with each other. I know they fought on the same side in battles, i'm not too sure about the political aspect.
