I loved this fic. But the author doesn't seem to be updating

The main reason why I like it is a bit fickle. It is the very first Harry/Bella fic I read. It doesn't seem like the author will update any time soon anyway.

Out of curiousity what is necroposting?

Once upon a time, this fic provided a modicum of entertainment for me. It was one of the first developed Independent!Harry I read, and I gravitated towards it naturally. Then I went deeper into the genre and realized that Harry, in this story, is overpowered and the victim of more cliches than I care to count. Bella is ridiculously OOC, warped to the point where only her name is the same. In the future, if I ever want to read a story like this, I'll just bend over and shit one out.

 

Fucking hells! And since the Picard has been played already......

 

I have to say....

I loved this story for a long time, and in a way, I still do. Harry/Bella can be done right, provided someone does not write her as OOC as this writer did.

Keep her crazy, and keep her dangerous. That's my motto.

But thinking about it logically, perhaps...maybe after 10+ years in Azkaban, Bella might decide to turn a new leaf.

But she still killed Sirus, and Harry is just like 'If you're sorry about it, we're cool.'

No. Fucking. Way. Bitch.

That part of their relationship plays right back into that forgiving Harry motif that just makes me want to slap the black off Harry Potter and say

"Wake the fuck up, kill your relatives, push Snape down the stairs, spike Dumbledore's lemon drops with rat poison, and bend Tonks over the table and have your wicked way with her!"

It's only too bad that JKR made Harry into the forgiving martyr. It would have been interesting if she had decided to grow a pair and actually give her Harry Potter concept an edge, because the universe is actually quite interesting.

-The fact that wizards can basically manipulate muggles with impunity with Obliviate is interesting to me.

-The fact tha Dumbledore knew the whole fucking time that Tom Riddle/Voldemort was a halfblood with a muggle father and never once tried to use that knowledge to discredit him and break his powerbase and get the purebloods away from him in the First War is a study in incompetence that could have been explored. Instead, fucking JKR made Dumbledore a saint despite the severe crimes he committed, as they were for an arbitrary 'greater good.'

Oh, she also made Dumbledore gay for Grindlewald, which seemed to come swinging out of far left field and just did not compute.

Basically, JKR castrated what could have been a very dark and mature concept into another watered down good vs. evil fairy tale for snot nosed bastards. And that ball busting bitch went on to make out like a bandit with the benjamins even though she gave us a mediocre saga, at that.

It's a good thing we have dedicated writers like jbern and Fayr Warning to give Harry Potter some teeth and a good woman to warm his bed at night, because all that JKR gave Harry in the end was Ginny, and that's even worse than getting nothing at all.

 

you know JKR also wrote this series called Harry Potter........show some respect unless you think you could have done it better.

The story just got updated. Although, the author has changed.

The update starts with this AN.

I haven't read the update yet and I can't imagine getting back into the story after so long but maybe somebody else can tell us if it's good.

 

It could have been worse, I guess. The chapter reaffirmed my expectation of forgiveness being given like candy to all the characters that matter. Is Dumbledore the only one left to be forgiven? The entire Potter Legion (stupid-ass concept) and Hermione are all chummy with Harry.

The battle was lackluster and uncreative - Expelliarmus, Stupefy and Impedimenta all make appearances. It's made a lot worse because I read some action scenes by Jbern, which make this pale to a stark white in comparison. The tactical outlook with teams at different locations was undermined by the lack of detail.

The battle should have been emotionally involving.

Harry is faced with an opportunity to confront Voldemort and put his training into action.

He can clear up his name by proving he did not massacre the Muggles.

The new writer even touches upon Harry feeling outrage when he is forced to let Muggles cut down for the sake of his plan. But only touches.

So yes, the author that adopted this can write legibly, I wish I could say more.

I intended to reread it, but the first chapters are not cooperative lol.

This fic has not aged well.

 

Updated. It's been awhile, but the writing has only gotten better. It's mostly a filler chapter, and you can see the end coming, but I have a bit of a soft spot for this fic.
