Agreed. The bastard kept me up all night looking for a good pokemon fic. Theres a semi-decent on in his authors profile but I couldn't find many through ff.net search.

If you haven't read the manga then i suppose this is pretty good. Though, IMO it is pretty much a rip of of the ruby/saphire saga in the manga.

It looks alright. I've only seen the shows and played the games.

Now I feel like writing my own one. I've actually started plotting it out in my head...o_O

EDIT: Bucks, I freaking love your sig.

This is the fic that started my fanfiction obsession. I think it's been abandoned though. Now that I actually look back at it, it doesn't seem that good, but after all, I've been reading high quality for the past year.

I didn't bother going to look for good Pokemon fics because they are such a rarity. Joe seems to be doing a good job though, and it's obvious his muse is inspiring him to write Pokemon with 3 new chapters today.

EDIT: Said he'd update KIP next.

He said that last time too...But yeah, I let other people do the searching for me in pokemon and read them through their favourites, it is the best way of searching and avoiding the crap.

Hmmm...I don't know much about Pokemon but his Naruto fic was really good...too bad he's stopped it...
Knowledge is Power is one of my favorites...one of the best in the sarcasm/humor category I'd say, though I suppose I haven't read that many (A Black Comedy comes to mind, though that fic is just pure humor).

Where can you read the manga? I've read the Blue/Red/Yellow series' but can't find anything in the Silver/Gold/Crystal region, let alone further. What I have read is a surprisingly good read.

Read the Pokemon special manga on onemanga.com. Some things from my story will be mirrored to that, rather than the games (and especially the anime). Things like Koga being with TR, and a few other people I won't be mentioning at the moment.

Alas, this is a forum based on HP, so shouldn't it stay with HP? I dunno, as for why I haven't been posting KIP like I said I would, that's mainly got to do with school. It's kind of hard to sit down and just write out a 20k word chapter, it's much easier to take it bit by bit with 5k word ones and separate the plot up a bit like I'm doing with my new story.

That, of course, doesn't mean I won't be updating. It just means it's harder on me when I've got assignment, followed by test, followed by another assignment, then another test, than a fucking group assignment (god, I hate those . . .)

I'm going to try post a new chap this weekend, no promises though.

Also, I agree with the others, please don't make posts saying 'this story's cool1111!' it's rather annoying. At least say why you think, or don't think so. It makes for a better read for me, at least.

They probably didn't. Somehow, even though Harry is two years older (going with his canon birth date, it means that this Harry was born in 1978. ) it's set in fairly modern times. At one point, Harry told Draco something to the effect of, "That is sooo 2005." Which means, unfortunately, that we have a thirty year old Harry running around Hogwarts as a teenager without time travel.

He said on the very first page of the story that everything would be moved up so that Harry enters Hogwarts in 2000.

    Laziness. Pure laziness.

I was two years old in 1990 you goddamn moron. How do you honestly expect me to accurately write in the times of that year and beyond when I not only don't remember them, but I didn't properly live through them?

LOL by being creative? Wikipedia? Googling random shit pertaining to specific years? The same way people incorporate period-related events into MWPP-era stories?

While I lol'd at you calling Bratling a goddamn Moron (everything's funnier at 3:45 in the morning), your age at the time of canon's timeline is hardly an excuse. Your use of establishedfangirl cliches (shifting years among the many) add to the appeal of your story, given how well/humorously you write, but let's call a spade a spade.

You're lazy. You make it work. S'all gravy.

Before Deathly Hallows, nowhere in canon did it explicitly state the starting year was 1991. That was just a convention fans accepted, taking the year the first book was written (I think). In Deathly Hallows JKR had adopted this convention and used it for dates on James and Lily's graves, but if you don't write a post-DH fic, I see no reason not to chose whatever starting year you feel most comfortable in.

There was mentions of Dudley owning a playstation in Harry's fourth year. The playstation was first released in December 1994. I think either this means the Dursley's were cheapskates in Harry's fourth year (I think it was a letter to Sirius that he mentioned it in but I'm not overly sure), which I doubt they were, or that Harry's first year was indeed 1991. Or around there. But that's an easily overlooked thing.

As to the whole timeshift thing, yeah it's lazy and such but Justblaise said it right. You make it work so what does it matter? And you explicitly informed everyone at the very start of your fic, so people should stop pointing out errors like that.

I consider anachronism-pickers right up there in terms of importance as brit-pickers. Sure, I can see how it'd be nice to stay "true" to generally accepted to canon, but I really don't give a flying fuck. And if you do, I think it's safe to say the author's probably not writing this one for people with delicate sensibilities like you.

That said, the inclusion of a MacBook Pro and a PDA is still super fucking lame. You might as well be bragging about your slick ass Sony Walkman portable audio cassette player that runs for almost two whole hours on just eight AA batteries.

Because even if the MacBook Pro and PDA are what you're hoping Mommy sticks under this Christmas tree this year, give it about three months. Then re-reading that shit will sound just like the line about the super portable audio cassette player. It's even better when authors throw out their favorite bands that they'll be embarrassed to admit to liking in a couple years.

Quote your Evanescence and Simple Plan songs now, and when you grow up, someone will dig out your fanfic and laugh and laugh and laugh.

Trust me. Somewhere, boxed up is the Poison shirt I paid $25 for at the concert. And I dug up my sister's framed Johnny Cougar Mellencamp poster. That's actually hanging on my wall, much to her chagrin.

Mommy doesn't stick presents under the Christmas tree for MrJoe, I'm apparently old enough to afford my own gifts. I'm twenty years old and I'm already getting underwear and 'nice' shirts for presents.

Given that, I already have a Macbook (Air). Did I put it in there because I have one? No, the laptop will play a role later on in helping pinpoint areas of interest he'll be visiting later. Scrying, will of course, be used first, but some places may be warded against it, and then he can use satellite imagery to help instead.

Did it have to be a Macbook? Of course not, but I think I'm entitled to brand drop in my own story story, especially if it doesn't affect the plot any. A laptop was necessary, and I chose a random (yeah right) brand that I just happened to personally like at the time. It beats just referring to it as a laptop or notebook for the rest of the story.

If Mac decide that by doing so, I have given them some awesome product placement advertisement and give me some free shit, that would just be sexy.

    Seriously.

I want an iPhone, get to it!
