I really am going to start banging my head against a wall soon.

ONE, I have shown ONE girl in that light. Harry's allowed to have his opinion, and while they may not be 'cum guzzling sluts', most girls would definitely do anything to bed a celebrity, which is what he's actually referring to.

You can all keep thinking that what I'm saying hasn't got some semblance of truth though, I don't care. I'm basing my theories and opinions on facts, from things I experience in real life.

I have friends (girls), who immediately, once breaking up with their significant other, go out to a club and get nailed that night.

I've seen my man-whore friends pick up girl after girl, screw the shit out of them, and move onto the next one without any trouble, so often, that it's become ridiculous.

I had a girlfriend (who I thought I loved) who, behind my back, a MONTH after finally getting together with her, fucks some random dude she met in a club because I wasn't there with her (zomg, could this be where my issues stem from?!)

I'm drawing my views and opinions form real life experience. You feminists may feel offended by it, well, you should all get together and use your energy on something fucking useful for once. Teaching the majority of females some fucking self-respect.

Of course, I'm not stupid enough to think that every girl is like that. Just like how every guy isn't a man-whore with pussy on the mind. What I AM saying is that, especially in schools (peer-pressure and all that bs), the ratio of 'nice' girls to 'easy' ones is around 1:3.

Once again, I'm drawing that from RL experience. Don't like it? Do something about it I guess, and do me a favor in the process.

Stone Edge would fucking destroy Charizard 1HKO every time, and a stabbed Earthquake from Garchomp would destroy your Houndoom in 1H as well.

Dragonite would get owned, just like my Garchomp, by a strong stabbed Ice move.

Tyranitar is a fucking monster, especially with the constant sandstorm increasing its SP DEF by 150% (making it one of the best pokemon in the game now, imo), but it still has a 4x fighting weakness I guess, so Heracross could probably own it.

Mamoswine is meh, nice attack stat for sure, but the only reason I'd every use one is for Ice sharding dragons.

Blastoise is a poor man's tank, the only reason I can see someone using it would be as a spinner. Umbreon works much better imo, and the Mean Look + Baton Pass combo is just win.

Also, don't diss Yanmega, it's one of the fastest pokemon in the game with Speed Boost, and it also has over 110 BASE special attack.

Scizor loses speed too, when it evolves. Scyther is faster (it gains attack though, and a 4x weakness to fire ;))

I understand what you mean. But you have to remember that there is girls out there that don't act that way.
I like your story and I really didn't care about this whole issue until the guys here were yapping on about it.

By the way... where did this whole 'forshizzle mudbizzle', or whatever it was, come from? That was hilarious.

My likening of mudblood to the term 'n****r' lol, dunno if I'd get crucified if I 'said' it or not . . .

Whenever I read any Pureblood supremacist calling someone a mudblood, I always got a mental picture of some redneck using the 'n' word. I figure that the best way to ruin an insult for racist people is to make a joke about it, it isn't that effective anymore once people start laughing when someone says it . . .

People say "nigger" all the time here, in a tongue-in-cheek manner. Rather like you and your mudblood thing, in fact.

Sounds like Anya needs to get her pussy stuffed.

Harry completely ignoring all female attention is so stupidly unrealistic that it makes it difficult for me to read the story. There's being a 'one girl kinda guy' and being a douche to every girl just because they want in your pants.

The whole one girl kinda guy thing is pretty stupid in it's own right anyways because the chances of any non-Christian being like that are slim to none. Closer to the none side.

Lots of guys don't like sleeping around but they don't think ONE WOMAN FOREVER.

    -

Also, the lack of conflict in this story is painful. So far it's mostly been 200k words of fluff about how awesome cool and chachy Harry is.

It somehow kept my attention though, I'd give it 3/5 not based on writing but based on the fact that nothing important ever happens. There is no real foreshadowing or hints being left to keep the reader engaged and wondering what's going to happen later.

Hopefully it will pick up sooner rather than later.

Did you even read the story? Or did you just listen to what other people say?

I love it how one reader can make a post saying that there's too many side-plots going on at once, while another says there's no foreshadowing to keep readers interested - call me confused, but one of them has to be wrong . . .

Speak for yourself in regards to the 'one woman kind of man' line please. I, personally, have no interest in any girl unless they're willing to commit to a relationship (assuming I like them, of course); I have better ways to waste my time if they're not. No one ever said Harry has no interest in girls, he just isn't interested in the girls he's surrounded by (a.k.a the majority of Hogwarts girls in love with him because he's a Quidditch star).

The girls he's shown a marginal interest in, or he's noticed are:

    Stephanie, who's taken

Sinistra, and Vector, who are too old

Lucile . . . well, where do I start? Too old, taken, scary, platonic relationship . . .

Tonks, who's is too old and taken

Fleur (Hello!) who isn't taken, is smart, isn't impressed by his 'status' and can stand Harry's personality.

All of the girls above Harry has admitted to, at the LEAST, thinking that they're attractive. Just because he doesn't act on it, doesn't mean he can't appreciate beauty when he sees it.

'So far it's mostly been 200k words of fluff about how awesome cool and chachy Harry is.'

That pisses me off something special too. To my knowledge, the first fluff scene I wrote was in the last chapter, and that was necessary for those two particular characters, in my opinion. I don't know what chachy means, but if you think Harry is awesome, and cool, more power too you.

I've already said how Hogwarts is a character building prologue, though I do try to make it as interesting as possible with side-plots, semi-action scenes and plot development. The story would have just made absolutely no sense if I started from where I wanted to (when Harry graduates), so all of this is necessary, and I hope, somewhat entertaining.

There's also the issue that people keep having of Harry not being challenged, and I say to that 'And?'

Harry has put himself in no situations where he'd need to be challenged, and why would he? In my opinion, if he suddenly did for anything less than an extremely desperate situation, I'd think Harry was being OOC.

This is how I see Harry (please respond and tell me if this is how you see him too, it's now become very important to me):

    • Socially inept (its the best way I can put that trait . . . he's not sociable, and doesn't want to be)
    • Apathetic (towards certain things, as in what people think of him, for example)
    • Quick to irritate, but not to anger
    • Intelligent
    • Witty
    • Manipulative
    • Driven/ Determined
    • Snarky (a downright jerk on a lot of occasions)
    • Mature (this is overly apparent in his early years, I think)
    • Protective of his 'inner circle' (no matter how much he denies it to himself and others)
    • Despises showing weakness, and feeling weak (this will come into play a lot later)
    • I don't want to say it, but he can also appear as somewhat arrogant, though, the line between arrogance and confidence is a thin one, in my opinion.
Do you readers pick up on most of these personality traits when reading the story? I hope you do, or I've just failed as a writer. If not, how do you see it differently? What other traits do you pick up on? I'd be happy if you listed them, to be honest.

Personally, I like how uninvolved Harry had been throughout his Hogwarts years. It's sort of refreshing to see a story where sneaky, secretive Harry actually succeeds in flying beneath the radar, instead of tangling himself into every goddamn mystery that comes his way. Luckily, there's been more than enough side-plots to keep my interest despite Harry's lack of involvement into predictable, worn out canon events.

But remember, this also means another thing. When the time comes for Harry to actually do get involved, he'll be much less experienced at it than canon!Harry had been. IMO in his first few fights after Hogwarts we should see him stumbling a bit, hesitating and in general making 'rookie' mistakes against which no book can prepare him.

Hmmm...I don't agree. After all it can be argued that cannon Harry did not stumble his first time in Philosopher's Stone. MrJoe's Harry on the other hand is a lot more prepared to meet the challenges...

That said I suppose if he was going up against Voldemort first up in wand duel then he should get his ass kicked. But the point is that Harry is probably too wily to get caught in such a situation anyway.

Harry has a lot of dueling experience, as in, using his magic in practical situations.

Come back and talk to us about feminism when you make it to at least 25, until then, your opinion really doesn't count.

That's one thing I didn't really understand. People were talking about how Harry just suddenly started sprouting power, but I can think of two intensive training sessions off the top of my head in the story. Unlike canon, he spends his time training throughout the summer thanks to having the untraceable Elder wand.

Nice job picking an age that you barely exceed.

IP: All Canon Harry does 'is' stumble, he just stumbles into correct solutions usually.

I'm not so sure about this one. I think Harry likes to think of himself as mature, and other people may think of him as mature, but that's because they don't have the access to Harry's views and emotions we do. There's far more to being mature than being serious. Emotionally speaking, Harry is rather stunted and immature in his views about love, relationships, women, and most importantly, purpose.

Harry thinks that he is the height of maturity to not act like a person his age and pretend that he's an adult. However, I - and Dumbledore - disagree. Wanting to grow up too fast is not a sign of maturity, it's a sign of immaturity. A truly mature person realises the value of not acting mature all the time, recognises that there is a time and a place for everything, knows the importance of childhood and frivolous behavior. Yes, Harry may be intelligent, powerful, and so forth, but his disdain for all things "underneath" him like having fun show that, by completely missing out on having a childhood, he has been severely emotionally stunted in knowing what is valuable in life and what isn't.

Despite what we're told, Harry has come to value power for power itself, and in fact power is the only thing he seems to care for.

Harry's views on love are immature? Really? I recall a conversation between him and Stephanie that suggested otherwise . . .

Also, I have to disagree with you in regards to Harry 'pretending' to be an adult. I find his behaviour to be commong amongst most 'gifted' children, I found this quote that supports this claim, I think:

'Socio-emotional problems are more prevalent in geniuses with an IQ above 145. Asynchronous development is the primary cause of this. As most children do not share gifted children's interests, vocabulary, or desire to organize activities, the genius child may withdraw from society.'

This is the idea I had when writing Harry's character. He doesn't think other people are beneath him, as such, but rather, he just doesn't share the other children's interests. With Archie, he found someone who was just as passionate about learning as he was, and even though Harry is more of a polymath, Archie is definitely a genius in his own right.

As for Harry only caring about power; if that were the case, I doubt he would have gone through half the shit he's gone through for his mother if that were true. Not to mention Archie, Remus, Stephanie and Remus too.

Having more than a bit of experience with the so-called "profoundly gifted" (typically defined as SB L-M ratio IQ>180), I'd comment that if this is your intention with Harry, you've done a pretty good job of it. The perfectionism, the intellectual snobbery, the "march to his own drummer," the tiny circle of peers, the seeking out adults rather than children from an early age as companions, the loneliness, and the personal standards of excellence (not giving much of a crap about others' standards) are all pretty consistent.

There are a few of the classic negatives that Harry doesn't have, but a lot of this could be chalked up to his environment in growing up. Miraca Gross did a case study of several Australian exceptionally and profoundly gifted kids (see her book Exceptionally Gifted Children) and found, not surprisingly, that those who had an environment that nurtured their gifts avoided some of the classic problems of that group (underachievement, severe depression, susceptibility to various mental disorders, etc.)

Part of the problem with writing these characters in fiction is that most don't have experience with what they're capable of, so even accurate portrayals don't come off as believable. (The four year old who understands complex variables, the eight year old who teaches herself Latin to read Virgil, etc).

I'd be lying if I said I knew anything about the 'exceptionally gifted', because, to be honest, I've never even met a child that could be considered as such, nor read anything about it. I just used common sense to pretty much guess how Harry would have turned out, being gifted, yet growing up in a positive environment.

To be honest, if it were an original story, I'd have done more research on the topic. Seeing as this is a fanfiction though, one of my firsts, I'll be skimming on the more in-depth researching on such matters, so long as it reads well.

Calm the fuck down, I never said all women were cum guzzling sluts. Some of you hold in the impulse quite nicely. Granted the average woman will swallow your cock if you take the time of day to reassure her that she isn't the human equivilent of the Michellin man, but thats beside the point.

I have to agree that there isn't enough conflict as of yet in this story. I'm hoping that once Harry gets out of Hogwarts he'll actually find himself in some situations where he's in way over his head and therefore has to exert himself. So far the most difficult situation that you've shown Harry in was when he faced the werewolves after the world cup and he handled that with ridiculous ease; as if they were nothing to be concerned with. Also, I do feel there may be to much focus on how awesome and cool Harry is. He seems almost too perfect as far as his intelligence goes. Just once I'd like for Harry to be wrong about something or just not know something. (Obviously there are some things he doesn't know but he never gets called out on them in the story.)
