Darker Naruto, but brief and enjoyable. I haven't seen it posted yet, so I apologize if it has.

    Hidden Leaf's Living Weapon
Oneshot. ROOT turns Naruto into a powerful weapon. Did no one ever explain the law of unintended consequences to them? Dark!Powerful!Naruto.

That was good. Too bad it was only a one shot, could've been an epic story.

That author has a lot of good oneshot's. And a two chapter story told from Sarutobi's point of view. It would make for an awesome full-length story, but alas, it's listed as complete.

I like that one. Naruto has Mokuton, but he's nowhere near over-powered.

This is a double post, but who gives a shit? Certainly not me.

    Update Shinobi Wars

    Update to Nine Broken Mirrors

    Update to Dancing with Demons

    And a new fic:

    Time and Again

Time Travel fic. In a war torn future, in the burning ruins of Konohagakure, Naruto fights Orochimaru and loses as the world collapses around him. From that ending comes a new beginning and a new chance to set things right, if only he can figure out how..

I've only read half of the prologue, so I don't know if it's any good or not, but it seems like it will be.

Eh, the beginning just randomly happens, and the method for why and how Naruto ends up in the past is very much unexplained, but it seems that
Orochimaru got sent back too, and that's why things aren't happening totally like Naruto remembers
. Beyond that, the fic is actually pretty decent, and I myself enjoy it. I also finally got off of my ass and found where my last post is in regards to updating the main list, so I'm going through and copy/pasting the story names and links unto text andlooking through the main list to see if they're already listed, so, it's ongoing, but it's happening.

The author of that time traveling fic has an awesome update rate. He updates once every Friday, or at least tries to. I think he's only missed his deadline once or twice.

He also tries to make a couple of points in the story, one I wholeheartedly agree with, to a point.

    1) Naruto feels strange being in a kids body. And by strange, I mean he can barely walk. He stumbles over everything, and falls down at least once a minute.

See, this I can believe. It's more believable than going back 20 years and immediately being used to short legs once again. But I feel like the author tries to hard with this. As I pointed out in a review, Naruto is a ninja, and an extremely good one (at least in the future, he is). He should be able to adapt to his body in a matter of minutes. To back up my point, I brought up the example of the Kabuto vs. Tsunade fight during the time when Naruto and Jiraiya were trying to find her and bring her back to Konoha.

She completely rearranged his nervous system, making him move his left arm when he wanted to move his right foot, etc etc. However, he quickly overcame this by adapting to the new system. What he had to deal with was much worse than Naruto going back into a childs body.

Yet the author kept the clumsy Naruto thing going on for a long while. It got extremely annoying. The author tries way too hard to be different and be realistic, which brings me to my next point.

    2) Naruto can barely remember anything from his childhood. He doesn't remember how everyone acted when he was young, and he doesn't recall faces or names if he only met the person once or twice.

I can agree with this, to an extent. Naruto barely remembers the milestones in his life: the team 7 bell test (I think.. at least, can't remember), the mission to Wave, etc. I don't know, but I feel like those life changing moments should be nearly crystal clear in Naruto's head. Yet, they aren't. Again, the author is trying too hard to not fall into the same trap as every other time travelling author does and remember everything from his childhood with amazing clarity. But he has to find a middle ground, his story goes to the other extreme, in my opinion.

Those are the only gripes I have with this story, other than that it's superbly written and executed.

Narf's #2: Pick a big event in your childhood. Try to picture it. It is a lot harder than it sounds, and Naruto's had a lot more time to forget shit.

For instance: I remember my fifth grade teacher decently. But I don't remember his voice, vaguely remember his face, and I can only tell you about four of my class mates. I also don't think I could accurately describe any but the most prominent lessons.

You might remember how things turn out, but actual, real-time playing out of events is next to impossible after a few years. I've had a few "life changing moments" and even then I can only recall snippets of entire events.

As for your #1, I mostly agree. He should have ended it after the first few days, IMO, not minutes. Kabuto is a medical prodigy; it makes sense that he has highly tuned control over his body/CNS.

To Narf's #2: I agree, because I can remember mostly everything about my childhood from pre-school and after. The first and only time I ate all of my vegetables at lunch, stealing gum from the teacher's desk, cheating on a spelling test, punching a girl in the face, the resulting ass-whooping, faces, voices, smells... but maybe that's just me.

I want your memory. I have problems remembering things clearly from last year if it doesn't have anything to do with academics. The parts where I was sober I mean.

Though I can still remember the time I got poisoned by drinking too much vodka. That is still clear as if it happened yesterday >_>.

I still remember the beginning of my third birthday party. I still remember with perfect clarity the events of 9/11 and what I did that day. I still remember getting taught how to play Street Fighter by my sister. I still remember my first kiss by my first girlfriend. All of these are inane things, except for 9/11 but that didn't really affect me directly. Yet I still remember them years later. I haven't had any life changing moments in my life, I doubt many people have. The biggest things that have happened in my life has to be the death of a loved one (I can almost quote the words that were coming out of peoples mouth that day, 2 years later) and my high school graduation.

What I'm saying is that none of us are like Naruto. Most of us have never been in life or death situations. He has. I find it hard to believe he'd forget the first mission where he was hit with the killer intent of an A-ranked shinobi.

Though the author's profile could be a submission for the "worst profiles" thread, or whatever it's called, this story is actually pretty good.

    I liked it anyway.

    Truth and Deception is horrible.

Cliche story. In fact, I will make a small bullet list on why I hate this story.

    • ANBU training Naruto. Sadistic grueling daylong training.
    • Naruto has weapons so TenTen has to be like, LIKE OMG.
    • There is little jokes in this story that also break up the chapter and remove you from the story. Naruto is training some more, and he has to pull out his sword (penis joke here) as fast as possible. After saying, screw it, quote.
"Like this one time, she made him draw his sword, as fast as he could, before just putting it back again.
      Then again.
      Then again.
      Then...he stopped.
      Just kidding! Again."
    • Of course the trainings Naruto has for waterwalking training is hotsprings and then you can guess what happens. Naruto/Sensei finds Jiraiya. I stopped reading here.
    • Hell, even the author notes make him seem like he has ADHD with lines like,
"'homicidal plot bunny glares and cocks gun suggestively'"

Yeah, the jokes/authors notes are ridiculously annoying. But the story does get better as it goes on, and he cuts most of those out.

The beginning is cliche, but the later chapters is what I recommended it for.

Not to mention that its complete, how often does that happen?

Ending was pretty good, couple of well worded ideas to boot. Not a favorite, but a good quick read to pass time.
