I am not sure where I would put it, since it isn't a challenge and doesn't have a section, so I am just putting it here.

I have always been one for stories in which mortals challenge gods.

A god sent the prophecy down to Trelawney in interference of Voldemort's quest to be more then mortal. This prophecy was a false prophecy made to help Voldemort to his eventual death. It doesn't even have to be the same prophecy as the books.

Harry finds out, and instead of raging against Voldemort or Dumbledore, his goal changes to the god himself who manipulated everyone, and started the downward spiral that is his life.

    ....wut?

The only possible way that something like that would work would be in an epic length fiction that deviates almost completely from canon, see Joe's Hero Trilogy.

Now this can work, as in the case of the hero trilogy, or it can be a complete and utter cockup. With the information you have given, and there isn't much of it, I'm predicting a cockup.

If you are serious about this bunny, flesh it out more, give us some reasons for instance, why the God would do that (more than just "help kill voldy")? How Harry would find out? How the hell he could hope to combat this God? And why the hell he would want to kill the God who was trying to help?

Otherwise the likelyhood of a shitty story forming based around this bunny is high.

    Very high.

As a plot bunny I didn't want to flesh it out to much since it is mainly up to interpretation, otherwise it would be more of a challenge instead.

I will say though that this one is pretty simple for anyone.

The prophecy took away a lot from his life, for instance, his parents. Add that to all the others problems that the prophecy brought along with it, I would think there is a decemt possibility of the not taking too kindly to having your life be used as some tool for its ends.

Oh, and I have a thing for Super!Harry, the problem is finding an opponent to match. You see all of these other stories with it, but the main villain is still Voldemort, and so he becomes powerful.. and they try and make Voldemort more powerful to match. It just doesn't work for me since he has had 50 years to get where he was.

True, but the other problems still stand, and the major problem of it practically being an original story with character names stolen from the Harry Potter series is still a major problem with this kind of story idea.

Wait, wait. So he's going to kill God, who in trying to help, accidentally made things worse?

That's like killing the cook who accidentally undercooked the food that gave you food poisoning.

Doesn't make sense. Why not kill the guys who actually made his life a living hell, instead of the guy who actually tried to help Voldemort on his way to death?

This is a completely retarded plot bunny. Anything with an actual God is, in fact. There's already a massive plot hole. If God exists, and he wanted to get rid of Voldemort, he could make it happen in a split second. God is all powerful, that can't be disputed.

This would undoubtedly get into the trash bin if anyone ever decided to write it.

Okay, it sounds like I do need to flesh it out a little just for clarification, when I say god, I mean 'a' god.

I am sure anyone who has seen Buffy the Vampire Slayer can get that idea, and yes, I was reading fanfiction from the series just recently >.>.

It isn't accidental though, Harry is the sacrificial pawn that god decided to use in order to take care of a developing problem.

Can't say anything to that since it is all true. :-\ Doesn't keep a person from hoping it is possible.

Have Hogwarts turn into a ruin by channeling all the magic that made it and has been absorbed by it over the years into a way to rip a semi corporal spirit out of Harry capable of going to this god's plane. Of course, as he manages to kill the god, he is forced to take it's place.

The above was just a bunch of bull, but you get the idea.

Even I have to admit it probably wouldn't even make the trash bin, just be deleted, but you seem to think that it has to be a direct confrontation. It could be he instead attacks that which sustains that god.

Oh, and as I don't believe in any real god, it is very easy to dispute the all powerful part.

    ... you're an idiot.

No matter if you believe in God or gods or not, the fact is, if they do exist, they will be all powerful and all knowing. That's the basic definition of a God.

No, that is the basic definition of a Monotheistic god.

You could say Deity if you like. -.-

You can hardly take one meaning of a word and say that it encompasses everything...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deity

    Why am I arguing..

The two other meanings that Webster gives you support what I am saying.

Yes, because wikipedia > the most recognized dictionary in the world, amirite?

Pro-Tip: Never use wikipedia as a source in an argument.

And what? I'm saying that the definition of a god, or a deity, is one that is all powerful. Merriam-Webster agrees with me. You can't just change the definition of a word to suit your own assumptions.

    Wikipedia? Seriously?

Alright. Look. You obviously didn't understand what I was saying. Why on earth would Harry attack the God that is trying to kill Voldemort? I mean, he's basically giving Harry permission to rip Voldemort in half. He saw a problem, Voldemort. He created a solution to said problem, the prophecy. Voldemort killed Harry's parents, so why on earth would Harry be pissed that he has a fighting chance now?

It's kind of like those stories where Dumbledore takes Sirius's money after he dies and uses it to fund the war against Voldemort. Harry gets all pissed off about it, which in turn greatly annoys me. Why would you get pissed? It's going to a good cause, and probably being used more wisely then you would be able to use it.

I've seen BtVS, and I know what you're talking about. This plot idea still sucks though dude. It needs a lot of work to be writable.

No, the other two definitions support neither of us. That's just a separate way in which you can define a "deity".

Well, in any case, I am done arguing, I am too weak willed to argue about it all day, and I don't really care. Even if my wording is wrong (I will give you that), there is no need to banter over a words technical meaning.

You were right. I was wrong. Okay.
