They are. I've always found it ironic that Christian and Islamic fundamentalists rail so eagerly against each other when, with a few small exceptions, their beliefs are almost exactly the same.

As for some of the comments here, Islam has always been similar to both Judaism and Christianity. In fact, Moses and Jesus are Islamic prophets, but I'm pretty sure you knew that.

As for why they fight, it is most likely a mixture of history, their intense rivalry and being stupid.

 

And part of why the fight is because they have the same god.

They're both of the opinion that only one religion(theirs) can be valid.

It's one thing for some "heathens" to worship their totally differant "false gods" they can easily be dismissed as having no value, no merit.

But people that worship the same god as you... you can't dismiss them with the standard "your false god is teh devils!1!!!1", since really they believe in your god too.. but on the other hand they have to be going about it wrong, since only one can be right, which is in a way far more offensive, since they see each other as more legitimate threats.

Which is why they both want to kill each other so much, so they can be sure that they're right.
