    wash makes a good villain.

Watching firefly really had an impact and I think that's what joss was going for. I don't need to know who writes dollhouse, I know that the beginning was written specifically for tudyk.

That whole nervous hypochondriac comedy routine was too Wash to be anything else but a deliberate set up.

    Tudyk Talks Alpha

I contemplated the idea that Joss would give Tudyk the badass role to show his rage as actor, but it didn't get very far in my head because I couldn't see it.
    That's now since changed.

The druggy persona was definitely Topher-like, I wouldn't be surprised if Topher had used Alpha on his birthday experiment the previous year. (that Sierra thing from a few weeks back.)

And did anybody here catch that Dominic said "Whiskey"?
That's a Doll name you know...

God I love this show - I'm so glad for the internets, else I wouldn't even know it existed. Stupid New Zealand.

And I know that Whedon had a plan for five seasons when he pitched the show - roughly storyboarded and everything. Let me try find that link...

Sigh. Season and likely series finale was tonight.

Dammit. This show is really starting to get interesting too.

So many things explained and covered and secrets revealed. And it just pisses me off because it's really good but not great. Give it another season or two and it'd likely become great.

Instead I feel like I've gotten half a lap dance and now I'm in a worse mood than I was at the start.

I think you're talking about just the feng-shui happy place where five of the actives sleep. The actives are the dolls and they're something like children/blank slates.

I really liked this show, even though it felt like it was always held back from how awesome it could be. The pace of the season was fast, it wasn't just about Echo's "engagements" every episode but about the overall plot.

Sadly we won't find out what the Dollhouse is really about besides what it is shown as.

    Top things on finale:

    1) Whisky
    2) Alpha's line about one of his personalities having a split personality disorder but it doesn't make him an MPD.
    3) Sierra's punny hit-ons

    Low point:

Alpha, the uber active, being somewhat of a clown. Don't get me wrong, I love his "Wash" characterization, and what he did in the previous episode, I was just expecting him to be a little more Hannibal level creepy in his "Alpha" persona.

Why must you be so awesome.
If fox doesn't pursue this or terminator, I'm boycotting the network for the next year. I'm parental blocking the channel and forgetting the password.

Is it just me or does josh have a fixation on gouging peoples eyes out with your thumbs... Its creepy, but all I could think was Buffy did it first.

This episode was admitedly tame compared to the previous one but thats because it was 90% explanation, and 10% action.

It was still awesome but what can you do.

I kind of knew saunders was an active but I thought maybe Topher was going to be the active, you know for the irony. Either that or the head boss lady.

    There's still time.

I am afraid saunders is going to be all emo from now on,

I also kind of wish alpha got away with Caroline's wedge and followed through wiht his treat. That would have been awesome. It would have given echo a reason not to get a treatment.

    Do you mean Joss Whedon?

Can someone link me to the episode?

Disappointing finish. Fervently hope this is not the end, but a weak finale doesn't buoy me with hope. The Frankenstein allusions were nice, but the dialogue at the point, tres crummy.

Finale did not live up to my expectations. I enjoyed the reminder of how cute Amy Acker can be without the scars and shitty hairdo, but most of the rest fell flat.

Alpha was very disappointing. They seemed to hit every cliche possible with him, from the talking to himself, to him having been in prison before, to his whole "we are gawds" spiel. Even the self-aware Echo annoyed me. I get that she wasn't down with being Alpha's little whore, but there's a part of me that wanted to see her at least consider destroying Caroline's little black box so that she could be her own person.

I could maybe see myself doing a fic where Ballard (who's still my favorite character) tracks down Alpha if the series doesn't get picked up. The biggest plus here is that they didn't go out on a cliffhanger.

The holes in the floor are where the actives sleep. Topher (the tech guy) mentioned in a previous episode that they pump sedatives and anti-psychotics, along with subliminal tone patterns, into the pods while the dolls are sleeping, and Alpha said that they're also designed to recycle CO2 and methane (everyone farts) to keep the building self-sufficient and off the grid.

I was wondering what Sierra and November were up to when they got imprinted in the last episode. Were they also investigating Alpha and looking for Echo? I'm not sure they explained it.

Also, thank fucking god they are continuing the show. If that was the end, I would just die.

Yeah, Sierra and November were supposed to be investigating, but the other two found Echo first.

All right! They are airing the episodes in the fall, which is way better than in the spring. Idol and 24 both start in January, so there is less time on the schedule. There's a chance that it will be able to move from the Friday Night Death Slot. Wednesday night perhaps?

The ratings for the last episode were abysmal, I'm sort of shocked that they did it.

DVD coming out in just over a week. Comes with the unaired pilot and a 13th unaired episode.

The pilot was completely chopped up and some parts outright contradicted by the first few episodes.
Ballard and Echo meet. He figures out she's up to no good/a programmed doll. Echo shoots Ballard a couple times and then ignores her handler and heads to the hospital to finish the job after he survives. I can see how it'd be a harder sell that the Dollhouse are potential protagonists when you start with a kill order on a merely curious federal agent. Awkward woman paired with Alpha near the end plays a (different?) bit part character. I think my favorite part is just the potential of an ex-boyfriend bringing the "perfect woman" as his guest to an ex-girlfriend's wedding. Such a nice cruel use of a doll.
It's kind of hard to imagine that pilot as the first episode because of how much the episodes after it would have to be different, but I think it would've been a smoother intro to the show.

And the thirteenth episode "Epitaph One" was pretty damn interesting. It lacked nearly all the characters since it's basically set in post-apocalyptic 2019 world where imprinting has spread like a virus throughout humanity. On the plus side, it does star Felicia Day of Dr. Horrible fame. If anything though, this episode left me wanting to see just a little bit more.
Do they make it to Safe Haven? And especially what the hell does Safe Haven look like? I'm really trying to imagine that one and can't. Is Caroline alive? Hooking up with Ballard? And is Alpha involved as hinted? I want more Alpha dammit.

It's easy to see how it's completely unnecessary to every other Dollhouse storyline but still.

Just saw "Epitaph One" and I've fallen in love all over again. Just the final line: "I hope I'm still alive when we find me." is worth watching for.

The episode may be non-canon, but it still gives a very interesting take on where the series might be going.
